Re: "All Mouth And Trousers" R4

After several runs of the ten radio ALL GAS AND GAITERS episodes retained by the BBC Sound Archive, (plus the latter addition of the first episode strangely), R4X begins a complete outing for the first series of thirteen episodes this Sunday, 20th September. 8:30am, 12:30pm and 8:30pm. https://www.b...

Re: "Star Treatment"

The first episode of Star Treatment , featuring Grace Kennedy, is getting another airing on TPTV on Sunday 16 August. Hopefully, other episodes will follow. Since TP the first time resurrected this series, one episode could now be problematic... http://the-mausoleum-club.org.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php...

Wasn’t TARGET’s originator Roger Marshall, who didn’t appreciate his script(s) being mucked about with and left in a huff?

Re: live drama: edited after transmission or not?

The entire 1956 season of Billy Bunter is telerecorded too - I couldn't guess why. For repeats - as Simon’s listing up thread shows, the number of productions performed twice in the same week dropped dramatically after 1954. Now, without going looking, that’s either because same-week repeats weren’...

Re: live drama: edited after transmission or not?

Can't say I can think of any examples, it would be very expensive to go to that trouble, many film recordings of recorded as live programmes have mistakes on view. Retakes of major cock-ups would be done immediately after the live transmission, while whatever recording apparatus would still be runn...

Re: live drama: edited after transmission or not?

It certainly happened for episodes of the QUATERMASS serials, as detailed in Andrew Pixley’s notes for the dvd set.

And “new” versions of scenes replaced muffed ones for sales copies of Z CARS too - see David Brunt’s excellent volumes on that series.

Re: Is it all over....?

Is there more than one 'It's a Square World' left? I've only seen it offered as a bootleg, and even then it's the same episode every time. There are loads - eleven missing episodes, mostly from the first two series but apart from that. With a mainly core cast to deal with, (or their estates!), I wa...

Re: Timeslip telerecordings-(Audio question)

As can be seen on the dvd release, episode six of THE JENSEN CODE is only “badly damaged” in that it cuts off before its end - it's missing two lines of dialogue and the end credits, (about 1'15" worth). Although there’s some slight clicking on the soundtrack too.

Re: Timeslip telerecordings-(Audio question)

Just a general technical question. Does anyone know if the telerecordings of the science fiction serial Timeslip use a magnetic soundtrack? I've seen telerecordings with an optical soundtrack but they usually sound quite poor. But with the telerecordings of timeslip they sound especially good. Perh...

Re: Timeslip telerecordings-(Audio question)

In the dvd booklet it says some episodes had film sequences spliced into them and they looked very good. The taped episodes of GHOST SQUAD had their original film sequences spliced back into the film recordings - not all together successfully, as there are a fair few original crossfades and disssol...

Thanks for confirming that NEW MATCH/DIME is the same show.

I'd be careful placing too much faith in the RT credits for WHACK-O! though - they are often out of whack, (pun intended), with the recordings.

That would mean the only one missing is the very first. No, I don't think that's right. Pettigrew was crossed out on the scripts, replaced by Roddy Maude-Roxby's Potter and...

Sorry to hear that you are unwell, namesake - hope recovery is in the horizon?

I'm afraid you are mistaken about RYAN INTERNATIONAL - the first episode is missing, and only b/w film recordings of the other nine survive.

Looks like R4X are giving us a run of the earliest, as originally transmitted, TS issues of LIFE WITH THE LYONS for the next few weeks.

Despite TS1 being the first episode of the fourth series, TS13, 30, 21 and 22 are second series episodes, while TS16, 28, 27, 18 and 29 were taken from the third.
