Re: Ian Cullen (1939 - 2019)
Indeed. He was a genuinely nice guy and quite humble about the work that he had done and the people that he had worked with. The Aztecs did him a lot of favours as he was able to travel to conventions and make a bit of pocket money from autographs but there was much more to him than that.

Ian Cullen (1939 - 2019)
RIP Ian Cullen - Probably best known as Joe Skinner from Z Cars and Ixta in the Doctor Who story, The Aztecs. He also had a regular role in When The Boat Comes In, made an appearance in Blakes 7 and was blown up in 90's soap Family Affairs. (Just after buying a new car, unfortunately.) Being a Geord...

Fenella Fielding (1927-2018)
RIP Fenella Fielding.
A true original, she had a long and varied career but for me her performances in Carry On Screaming and in the Hancock's Half Hour Episode The Poetry Society were perfect examples of her wit and endearing kookiness.

I have a memory of a TV play (I think a Play For Today) that focusses on a person coming to terms with his homosexuality, having a rift with his mother about it and (crucially, as its the only part I can really recall) ends with the scene of his naked back and a lover commenting on his 'lovely tatt...

Colin Jeavons at 88. A fine, fine actor - ultra reliable and always a pleasure to see in a show. We wrote him a letter many years ago because my Father (who sadly passed on just over a week ago) was convinced he'd been in the army with him. Colin wrote a lovely letter back stating that it must have...

Re: TV episodes you thought were in different shows.
I'm betting a lot of people buying the Battlestar Galactica (original series) box set and looking for the episode where Starbuck is trapped on a planet with only a Cylon for company are disappointed. The episode is called The Return Of Starbuck and is actually a one-off episode from the later series...

Nice guy and a local legend. I did a comedy show on Radio WM called the Kentucky Fried Planet Show, he interviewed us about it beforehand and introduced the show when it aired...to literally dozens of appreciative listeners. :o() RIP Ed.

This reminds me of 'Married: With Children'. Peggy's maiden name in that show is Wanker. Her family, the Wankers, hail from the fictitious rural Wanker County, Wisconsin. Ahh, so she's one of the Wisconsin Wankers then? :o() (The last few posts have made me chuckle more than is seemly for my age......

Later featured in a Python sketch about logic (audio only though, I think). "Alma Cogan is dead, but it does not follow that everything dead is Alma Cogan." Yes, it's on the Holy Grail LP/CD, a logician commenting on Sir Bedevere's intervention during the villagers' witch hunt: Good evening. The la...

I've got them all digitally, but I'd certainly buy the books if they reprinted.

I thought they were both ok with AYBS scoring higher with me on the chuckleometer. Roy Barraclogh's Mr. Grainger was wonderful played and provided the best laugh of the show with the 'lift/stairs' speech. Lovely bit of pathos. Porridge was interesting but I agree that this will be dated in a few yea...

The new bloke, though, is almost entirely devoid of personality. He'll only be working Mon-Sat. As a practising Christian there's apparently a clause in his contract which says he does not have to work on the Sabbath. That was also the case during his stint with BBC Sport. Oh right, I only watch it...
