Re: Boardroom dramas
Have a look at the Alan Clarke-directed Play For Today "Beloved Enemy" (1981). Lots of boardroom machinations and a pretty incredible piece of television IIRC.

Re: TV Tie In Books
Having a cleanup. Anyone interested in any of the following? Happy to give some or all away for cost of postage, only snag is that I am in Sydney, Australia. Still, if you're interested: Warship - Warship: HMS Hero - Warship: Holt RN - all by Ian Mackintosh The Main Chance - Edmund Ward The Troubles...

Re: Nicest Surprise from an old series
I went into The Gold Robbers with no real expectations and found it absolutely excellent - highly involving and well-made television. Similarly Spindoe, lurking unobtrusively in the shadow of Big Breadwinner Hog, was a wonderful surprise.

On a budget but couldn't resist a small outlay on this one. Mr Rose Vol 3, Justice Vol 1 and New Sotland Yard Vol 1 added to the VT drama pending pile...

Re: PR: The Plane Makers - Volume 3 [Network]
Just watched Edmund Ward's "It's a Free Country, Isn't It?" - pretty unrelentingly brutal treatment of a much-loved character! Good drama.

City '68
Does anyone have memories of (or has anyone recently seen) this "forward thinking anthology of dramas about the emerging problems of a city"? According to Lostshows it exists complete, and Network have been very good at releasing Granada stuff. I've been intrigued by this one since I first saw the n...

Re: PR: It's Dark Outside [Network]
I was always going to buy this, but the positive reviews on here & Roobarb's have given me a little bit of a hurry-up. It sounds great.

STUDIOCANAL ident
I'm finding the crass and noisy STUDIOCANAL ident at the top of every individual episode of the ABC Public Eye set really rather distracting and unneccessary. It's not as if they made the show, they just acquired an archive. If they must bung their logo on it for whatever reason, couldn't they at le...

Re: New Network website
Anybody using an ipad? I am having a pretty horrible time on the new site, takes forever to load (and sometimes doesn't). Functionality feels clunky and limited when it does. More importantly I couldn't get the video streaming happening at all, and accessing this via an ipad would be pretty crucial ...

Re: TV Tie In Books
I read and enjoyed the Main Chance tie-in, written by Edmund Ward. From memory it is a rehash of some series 1 episodes but with the John Arnatt character replaced with the Glyn Edwards one. James Mitchell's Callan novels were always a favourite, especially Russian Roulette and Smear Job (but certai...

Re: Network Sale 3rd to 16th of December
Armchair Theatres 1 & 2 and the first two Edgar Wallaces for me. A relatively modest investment due to a poorly credit card, an already subtantial pending pile, the spectre of the £40 shipping fee, and a lingering uncertainty as to whether The Fellows would satisfactorily repay my time and money.
