Never seen this before but love the concept, can't wait. I hope this isn't one of Simply's filmising cock-ups.

I hope these get released. There's plenty of material for Network to have a go with. At Last the 1948 Show - The (in)Complete series? :D

Not me. Looks increasingly like customs may have shown a keen interest. That'll make it a very expensive Blu-ray.

Re: Most obscure Network DVD release

I ordered Our House over the weekend before the sale ended. Popular at the time, but I've never heard of it before the DVD. Probably no one but Carry On fans remember it today. Similarly, out of many episodes only a few survive.

Re: Avengers Blu Ray - update please

Now I do support their cause to ensure these films are released in widescreen but the obsession about the 3 ratios just makes them look stupid. The difference between the 3 ratios is minimal , specially if viewing with overscan on so I think they should be concentrating on just getting them out in ...

Re: PR: Sherlock Holmes - The Complete Series [bfi]

Hm... Not sure that happens every time. The Missing Episodes website lists audio for both missing halves. Given who's releasing this and the effort that's been put in, I'd be shocked if they'd simply overlooked it. It's always possible we thought the soundtrack existed but when it was actually tran...

Re: PR: Sherlock Holmes - The Complete Series [bfi]

It doesn't say but I assume they used audio-only for at least one episode. Right? The Bruce Partington Plans will be part video, part audio only (covered with stills/script extracts) I believe. Oh yeah for the missing half I meant. Don't they have the audio of both of the half-episodes? Seems not g...

Well it's all extra cost isn't it. You'd have preferred some explanatory text, I'd have preferred them on a couple of CDs. At least they're available for us to enjoy.

Re: "Out Of This World" (BFI)

Took delivery of this yesterday, and while I haven't had time to look at it properly, I was a bit disappointed to "see" that the "audio" episodes are exactly that - i.e. just the soundtrack with a blank screen. Surely the scripts of these episodes survive, so some descriptive text could have been i...

Re: PR: Invasion [Network]

The 'Spearhead from Space' connection is a bit tenuous, although there is a stranger in a hospital involved. 'Spearhead' is about an invasion from another planet, whereas 'Invasion' is not, despite the title and the deliberately misleading trailer. It's a more thought-provoking tale for it. I'd arg...

Internet sources (which are known to sometimes be unreliable) claim that Hammer House of Horror is absent from Blu ray because no one knows where the original negs are. Does anything know anything of this? Also, I remember Time Screen (ah....) doing two very good and involved features on HHOH and H...

Re: PR: Invasion [Network]

Loved it. If anyone is a fan of Jon Pertwee's Doctor Who, this film is a must-see. It's almost an understatement to say Spearhead From Space reused some of the ideas. I've always been aware the film is well known for that in Doctor Who circles but I hadn't realised just how much of it was. Besides a...

I don't know whether to bother with the rest. Took 60 minutes to do what a 30 minute show could do, and more of the same from Brian Cox. Too self congratulatory about the human race too, needed to be more objective. I loved Wonders of the Solar System, but it's being stretched very thinly now howeve...

Personally I'm all for releases like this, it just goes to show that there is scope for so much to see the light of day. I'm lapping it up. Wasn't this supposed to be an extra on OOTU originally, so I've heard on the grapevine? Both projects then grew quite significantly and Out of This World made ...

By 1956, the cinemas that were showing in widescreen were far from few. It may well have been shot otherwise (though I doubt it, unless it sat on a shelf since early 1954 at the latest).

Good news. Also be interesting to see what the extras will be. Late Night Line-Up from 1965, discussing the 65 remake with the cast of the 1954 production and Rudolph Cartier The Late Show special are what I hope for. I think expecting the 1965 version on there is unrealistic unless it comes out as...
