Re: Is it all over....?

Wasn’t TARGET’s originator Roger Marshall, who didn’t appreciate his script(s) being mucked about with and left in a huff? He and Graham Williams met and discussed two scripts, prior to Hinchcliffe being given the entire remit as I understand it. Then, according to a brief chat I had with Rodney Ma...

Re: New agreement between Network and the BBC

Charge 200 quid a set if you want Network - there's a contingent who'll pay it, for a release with a few extras. Patrick Mower and Brendan Price interview, Phillip Hinchcliffe interview, David Wickes, Bob Baker/Dave Martin.... C'mon..

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

Don't get me wrong - I will buy the odd film on Bluray, but I made the decision to stick with remastered dvd material for 70's stuff. On watching the BoW Bluray taster, it was blatantly obvious that the moonsuit life support units (the ones worn on the front) were either balsa wood or polystyrene wi...

. If I'm honest, I just don't like the inconsistencies Bluray brings up on 70's style props The picture's just too detailed, you mean? I actually like that. I like being able see all the little details that are lost in standard definition, ). I think some detail I would prefer to lose on material -...

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

S2 picture always seemed very soft and smeary, when Barbara Bain walked past in the titles, for a split second you could still see her after she'd gone.! Be nice to see it on par with S1. As a dvd only buyer I'm not too sure what to expect over the Carlton set, which for me was acceptable. You just...

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

I think the price for both Bluray and dvd set very good. Back in 2001 a Carlton set was around £70 at HMV and similar outlets, so this in essence is a snip. I ordered the dvd and am looking forward to viewing this series again after about a 6 year absence from my collection.

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

Putting out the Bringers of Wonder and Destination Moonbase Alpha as a consolidated 'taster' is a nice touch for my money. Bringers of Wonder is a personal favourite of S2, so that'll go unopened into the collection.

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

Is the Second year of Space 1999 on DVD somehow rare? I think I've got three of them. Kind of. It hasn't been in print in the UK since the original Carlton release. The prices being asked for it on Amazon are ridiculous. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Space-1999-Box-Set-DVD/dp/B00005NFDX/ref=sr_1_6?s=dvd&...

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

It was quite easy to get the Y2 Carlton set until a few years back although the price did creep up. Several years back I sold my UK set for £80 and simultaneously bought the Australian set off Ebay for £20 delivered. With the exception of being Region 4 and the outer box not being as sturdy as the ...

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?

People will always find something to complain about. Here in the US fans have been clamoring for over 20+ years to get a release of the Adam West Batman series. Now that it's being released, in restored blu ray no less, many of the fans are complaining about the price. Bottom line is, if you want i...

Good to see you're as patronising as always Gareth Well, what point were you actually trying to make? I have no desire to buy a BR player meantime and certainly not for one...

Thank you Beekeeper, that was, essentially the point I was trying to make. Yes, 2005, was the initial remastered release. Basically the Y1 Carlton release, with a nice fluffy booklet to boot. A Y2 release similar could have followed, why not I've always wondered???

Yes, but the initial Network release of 2005. What was wrong with Network then following with a Y2 release using similar Carlton...

You've both missed my point completely. The point I was trying to make was, that their was no reason at all (IMHO) why Y2 could have not followed a similar release pattern to Y1 in terms of Network. Given some of the obscure stuff they have released meantime. Cash for digital transfer of the audio t...

I don't doubt that for one minute; though I still feel this is somewhat too late and at minimum a re-release of the Carlton style prints should have been done alongside the Y1 boxset Network released some 10 years ago.

Yes, I remember this quite well. Reckon it may have been later than 1987 though!?! Having said that, I recall various sketch shows parodied it. Alistair McGowan's big impression springs to mind. Though 80's, I'm erring on the side of Naked Video doing it and/or as you say Alas Smith and Jones.

Re: Callan: Prop department access to guns

If you use Google images you'll see plenty of snub-nose .357 magnum revolvers that to a layman's eye would look "like a normal .32 or .38." Harry Callaghan's .44 looks bigger because the muzzle is 23% bigger, and the barrel consequently being heavier. It's also a longer barrel not because it has to...

He was the last of the 60's 'Hellraisers' - but it's testament to his reformed character (in later years) that he lasted some 20 over Burton and Reed, and almost +10 on Harris (who similarly reformed and binned the spirits latterly). A fine chap, RIP
