Re: Members past and present

I think there are still quite a few of us here lurking from the early days of archive television on the internet. I tend to dip in a few times a week and have a read, but I rarely post these days unless there's something I feel is worth sharing. I remember around 1995-96 it was possible to start the...

Sorry, I don't know much at all about this programme. But you definitely didn't dream it.
Rediffusion screened it on 14/03/1967. It was also shown by Granada and ATV the following evening.

...you talk to somebody in the UK about AR material and it's all "un licensable" and they haven't got a clue where it is anyway. As a co-production, Hippodrome is a slightly different animal to regular A-R output. Rediffusion held the worldwide rights for the programme with the exclusion of the Uni...

Re: Favourite tale from the days of regional ITV?

One of my favourites that I vaguely remember hearing somewhere was a story about ATV transmission. I think it was when ATV was at Aston Cross in Birmingham. The story goes that they were screening a late-night film when one of the transmission team noticed that they could see through the window into...

Made in Yorkshire (2018)

With the 50th anniversary of the 1968 ITV franchise reshuffle coming up this summer, I thought I'd share this link to what looks like an interesting personal project being put together by some of the Shiver TV guys based at ITV in Leeds. It's worth a look if you're interested in the history of Yorks...

Missing Believed Wiped 'Central'

Just a quick heads up. Kaleidoscope events are back. Revamped and with a new venue at Birmingham City University. It's a trial period to see how well supported they are, so for now they will be on an event by event basis. The first takes place on Saturday 12th November and is called 'Missing Believe...

Re: ITV police series 1955-91

I'd definitely buy a 'No Hiding Place' DVD. That episode described by Silverking earlier with Patrick Troughton murdering people with a cheese wire sounds great. I assume it must be 'The Stalag Story' TX 14/10/1959 which sadly doesn't officially exist anymore or was probably never recorded in the fi...

Thanks for coming Wilko.

I don't have the total back from the RNLI yet, but will be sure to post it here as soon as they get back to me. I was very pleased with how well the Retro Shop went. Once the cost of the stock has come out of the pot, I hope there should be a nice return for the RNLI.

I know there have been drama-documentaries since portraying modern day catastrophes like 'dirty bombs' and smallpox, but that feeling of watching Threads back in the day, and wondering when (not if) the 4 minute warning would signal the beginning of the end brought on feelings of hopelessness and h...

Re: BBC 2 at 50 - A Kaleidoscope Retrospective Event

The BBC have copies of Australian censor clips from other shows, but they don't exist in the main catalogue, so they don't show up on general searches. I did some archive consultancy work on The Two Ronnies Spectacle that was screened on UK Gold last year and we used some censor clips from The Frost...

BBC 2 at 50 - A Kaleidoscope Retrospective Event

The next Kaleidoscope event will be BBC 2 at 50 on Saturday 6th September. Subject to clearances, there'll be a rather special Cliff Richard triple bonus at the June Music Event, squeezed in after The Best of Ev at around 3.22 ish.
