Re: Same Actor, Same Character, Different Show
Probably the most successful example of characters created for a specific film taking on lives of their own, are Basil Radford's and Naunton Wayne's characters Charters and Caldicott......they turn up in cameos and in more important roles in many later films, eventually having to change the characte...

Agree about Bristol. It's been used a good time in the last few years, Skins, Murder in Mind and Mistresses spring to mind. Clifton especially makes a great location. Being Human was the one most popular here, and we're still angry at losing Casualty to Cardiff..... Oh yes, I forgot about BH. Also ...

Isn't another problem that most of the potential demographic for repeats like this are dead? If Looks Familiar was still being made we'd have reminiscences of Acid House, Withnail & I and The Tall Guy... Well not really... because in all the years it was made it didn't move on - it didn't start by ...

You were at Maidstone '70 ??? I expect you knew it was filmed - well, a few numbers each by Fairport and Matthews' Southern Comfort - by Tony Palmer as a half-hour film, to accompany Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii in the cinemas.....it has been legitimately released on dvd too......and may lurk on the i...

One release that would be welcomed all over would be the series Shoulder to Shoulder......after the film Suffragette and the very successful BFI compilation of archive footage, it would do very well.....

Re: The All-Purpose Current Doctor Who (2005-) Thread
In my view, yes those TV sci-fi guys have done it again. Killed a character and not killed them. I trace this lazy habit back to Star Trek III when they brought Mr Spock back to life. You could also trace it back to some old 6o's thing where they had to change the actor, so they "killed" him off bu...

Climbing High is absolutely barking, and a bit of a cult favourite....about time it got a legit release. Carol Reed's pre-war work needs to be reevaluated; they're like pre-code Hollywood in some ways. This and A Girl Must Live, an early vehicle for Margaret Lockwood, are forgotten treasures.

Nick Its a shame that one of the largest film companies in the world cannot even be bothered to acknowledge correspondence. Film companies are the worst I think. TV stations are simply more aimed at providing a service to the public. Or perhaps it's a necessary self-defense they've had to adopt. (A...

Well now, with all the editing out of the now-toxic TOTP presenters, instead today they feature The Human League's cover of Rock n Roll Part 2, so now Mr Glitter will be getting some royalties due to his co-writer status.....I can hear the complaints letters and articles being scribbled as I type.....

Having just finished going through the set, my initial reaction that the running time left so little time for character development or motivational development of the plot meant that it was irksome, gradually subsided,as the main three characters developed (though we never do find out much about The...

20th Century Flicks are a local institution, and Bristol having a real cinema-buff culture it has created its own niche.
