Doomwatch DVD finally here

Well, one of my favourite archive shows finally gets a DVD release, my only irk is lack of information on the cover of discs about which episodes are contained inside. That niggle aside, I'm working my way through the series episode by episode and there's a few I've missed, so it'll be nice to see t...

I agree, the final two episodes are incredibly good, and did you spot Jonathan Ross in the background?

Re: It Ain't Half Un-PC Mum...

"We would have been delighted to use Indian actors, if we could have found any. This was the first BBC sitcom even to be set outside Britain, and we did not live in a multicultural society in the Seventies (the series ran from 1974 to 1981)." Yes, multicultural Britain began in 1982 apparently. Mic...

Hi guys, long time no speak.
How does one know if one has the original or reissued discs? Should one purchase directly from Simply?

Re: Dixon Of Dock Green

The fun thing about these filmed episodes, is the fact that, in the episodes I've watched, there's no police station scenes, so interviews are conducted with various characters, in broom cupboards, warehouses, wasteland etc...making it a little implausable..

Re: Doctor Who Classic Series and DVDs

Despite buying the DVDs on release, I'm pretty decided about not buying the special editions of Visitiation etc now (unless I see them cheap cheap), some of the extras, regardless of how worthy, seem to be money for old rope, and the only (silly, I know) reasons I will purchase a Special Edition wil...

Re: Doctor Who Classic Series and DVDs

Interesting reconstruction of Galaxy 4 on The Aztecs: Special Edition, and great to see a previously missing episode, however the story is quite slight, and really is an example of bad Doctor Who...very very dull

Re: New season/series - new era. Series that span the times

I think 'Our Friends...' was a one series/one story spanning the eras, as opposed to a series with a new season/new era..

I could be wrong..

New season/series - new era. Series that span the times

Just noted on the backs of the DVD sleeves for 'Wish Me Luck' that series 2 is set in the Autumn of '43, while series 3 is May '44. Not a HUGE jump I grant you, but it led me to thinking about series that DO and DON'T follow on from each other, and wondering which were successful and which weren't, ...

Wish Me Luck (LWT 1989) - Luck? They'll bloody need it

Just ploughing through series 2 of this series (I've only got series 2 & 3), having had it for quite some time on the pending pile, and having watched a couple of episodes previously, I thought I'd give it a proper crack this time, and it's been quite an easy series to watch, sometimes a couple of e...

Re: Gunsmoke - TCM

To be honest, they seem to be churning out a ton of episodes a day, and my wife bristles when the Tivo starts to fill up with Gunsmoke. I've had to delete the recording option until I've caught up! Are there any absolutely great episodes from these seasons they are broadcasting, that are 'must see'...

Re: Gunsmoke - TCM

Thanks for that guys, I take it some of you are fans then? The two boxed sets I have are very good, with some lovely extras. One is a 'Directors' box, the other the 50th Anniversary Box which features the later seasons. Good to see Burt, he's rather good in the episodes on TCM, while Festus isn't th...

Gunsmoke - TCM

Stumbled across Season 9 of Gunsmoke on TCM. I've picked up a couple for the boxed sets in the States over the years, but it's nice to catch up with an actual season, warts n all. While not as fun as '..Smith & Jones', or 'Maverick', classy as 'High Chapparal' etc, it's a good old run of the mill we...

Alan Partridge - Sky Atlantic

I see there's a new DVD out with two specials featuring Alan Partridge. Has anyone got these or seen them. Are they up to the usual Partridge standard (I see Armando has co-written one of the specials), or is the cult of Alan tailing off?

Having finished the whole of series 3, I'm rewatching earleir episdoes, and episodes I may have missed from the first series. Interesting how the format changed slightly from the early days. Edward Woodward is avery uneasy host, I find, perhaps JP settled in better. Funnily enough (almost in a Three...

Well, I finally got round to watching the first episdoe of this on one of the Look-Back volumes (are we getting any more Look-Backs?). Quite looking forward to seeing this, as I've picked it up at BHS for a tenner. Looking at the old site, there seems to be some good initial response.

I spotted a couple of Parky DVDs recently, and I wondered if they were worth taking a punt on. I saw two sets, do they overlap, or is one better than the other?

Hope someone has seen these, and can help.

The Saint - Roger Moore series

Looking back (like we do), I recall the excitement created on this very forum (well the old one) about the Network/DDHE/Umbrella releases of 'The Saint' So much so, that I foolishly got bitten by the bug and bought the Network monochrome set (I'd already picked up the colour series in Spain). I've d...

Radio One - Fun At One - were tv clips used?

In the dark corners of my mind, lurks a memory of Paul Burnette on Radio One, doing something called 'Fun At One', basically, a classic comedy sketch at one in the afternoon. I'm also half remembering Adrian Juste using various comedy clips on his weekend show. How good these memories are, I do not ...

Coronation Street - boxed sets

Saw the big gold Corrie box the other day for 'not very much money', but as I'm not a huge 'modern soap' fan, I thought something like the 60's (and at a push 70's) Network sets, would be probably the best selection. The big gold box looked like it was mostly heavy with modern disaster episodes and ...

Not sure anyone can help, but here goes.. I was looking for some Tex Avery and Droopy dvd sets, and noted that the UK seems to be pretty low on such things, but France seems to have some sets.
