Re: Most in need of a reissue.....

Quite a few BBC bits go in quite cheap box sets and I live in hope that Juliet Bravo might get this treatment.

Most in need of a reissue.....

There is a seller on a certain well known auction site currently looking for £750 for the complete Juliet Bravo. Not sure he'll get it but certainly suggests there might be appetite for a repress?

What's the wackiest asking price you've seen for an officially released series?

Re: Blu Ray recommendations....?

Well since I started this red hot thread I have picked up the Avengers and Prisoner on blu ray. The quality of the latter is definitely rather staggering. Hope the Avengers comes close too. Also, my Woman in Black arrived today. No time to have viewed it just yet but it is a shame that twice they ha...

Re: Threads (DVD Release) - A Few Thoughts

I watched it at the time and it scared the bejesus out of me. Last watched it in the early 2000's on its earliest DVD appearance and it still took me days to recover. I have the recent 2 disc edition on the shelf but have yet to watch it....my hand has hovered over it a couple of times but not quite...

Is it all over....?

So, I suppose, what I am asking, is the era of regular issues on DVD of archive TV via Network/Acorn/Simply et al largely over? Hardly any new releases these days, a number of series remain incompletely issued, it seems that boat has sailed. Network seem, inexplicably to me, to see greater profit on...

Lockdown is giving me the opportunity of a full Blake's 7 rewatch. Seeing the wonderfully avuncular Paul Daneman in Killer led me to this series. What a shame this never got a release. Probably wont happen now of course.

Re: Softly Softly: Taskforce

So, here we are, some years down the line and I am just about to watch the last of my Pidax discs. Despite, the Jack the Ripper release, it seems the era of archive TV on DVD is pretty much drawn to a close, but the era of some kind of streaming service of such material is a long way off if indeed i...

Blu Ray recommendations....?

The impending arrival of The Woman in Black TV adaptation has prompted me to finally pick up a BR player. What might anyone recommend as particularly worth picking up archive TV wise on this format or even what are the best film restorations out there?

Anyone checked out Whisperers in Darkness on the Sounds App.

Modern takes on Lovecraft's Charles Dexter Ward and the above title. Both really really good, highly recommended.

It's probably my long abiding love of the Avon character that got me into so called 'cult tv' in the first place. Thank you Mr Darrow. RIP.

One advantage the Dutch set does have is that it will free up at least a foot of space on your average archive TV fan's bulging shelves....

I'm very surprised no one else has commented on this excellent release. Got my copy for Christmas and have just started on "Q6". Fantastic to see the original episodes as they originally went out. Long overdue release! Hope they'll do "The Goodies" complete next. As is well known only three out of ...

As a budding teenage prog rocker in the 1980's, obviously not my cup of tea musically, but, a lot of the stories coming out about him after his death seem to concern his generosity to those in need, which is heart warming.

I know we are not supposed to put links to a certain site here but there is some really wonderful footage on that site of Fairports (and Steeleye Span during the Martin Carthy era of the band) if you search with the band names and Ainsdale Beach. Priceless.

Strangely we had just introduced my 7 year old daughter to the joys of Clouseau and Cato, though, to be honest, it was me with tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks and my daughter wondering what all the fuss was about.

Thanks for all the laughs Burt. RIP
