Re: PR: Supernatural [bfi]

There's a strange note in the back of the booklet - unless it's a typo for 2" - it says the release was sourced from 1" tape, which would mean they didn't go back to the master tapes or even a digital conversion from them.

Re: The Edward Woodward Hour [??]

Isn't the will hay film "Where's That Fire?" a bootleg that someone has designed to look like a legit Australian Release to disguise it's real status - this could well be the same

Re: A Leap in The Dark - series 1 archive staus?

found a couple of references to this clip online now so here it is -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/wiltshire/h ... 354240.stm

does infax list all the news and current affairs materials these days or could the series be sitting there unnoticed ?

Re: A Leap in The Dark - series 1 archive staus?

yes - ish, but lost shows just copies the printed Kaleidoscope guide ignoring the first documentary series and only counting the latter 3 dramatised series (hence 17 episodes) - a note appears in the printed guide explaining that series 1 is not listed. The lost shows listing needs amending as its n...

A Leap in The Dark - series 1 archive staus?

Does anyone know the archive status of the first series of "A Leap in The Dark" - I've just seen a reference to an extract on one of the BBC's regional websites and I'm wondering if this is something known to exist centrally - series 2 which is when they started to do dramatisations is incomplete so...

Re: Lend me an ear...

Simon - Dick Fiddy of the BFI & organiser of the MBW screenings is a member on this board so you can PM him if there's anything in this chaps garage that turns out to be missing, or contact Kaleidoscope.

Apologies if this is teaching grandma to suck eggs territory.

Re: PR: Down The 'Gate [Network]

Thanks for the clarification on that - I can see now in the guide that whilst it is listed as Betacam from domestic VT there is no listing for adverts also recorded as there are for all the other episodes that survive which suggests somethings not quite right. Best to class it as fully missing then ...

Re: PR: Down The 'Gate [Network]

I didn't get a reply to an enquiry about this on Kaleidoscope's facebook page - so can anyone here tell me what's happened to the supposed seventh surviving episode - it's listed in the comedy guide - and the original PR for this, above, says 7 surviving episodes whereas the DVD has only the 6 survi...

Re: PR: Burnside - The Complete Series [Network]

I ordered copies for the five store I bought for at the time so I know it didn't appear unfortunately - I doubt it would have sold well anyway - the series was soon forgotten about - a shame as Burnside was for me the strongest character in the Bill. I think it was literally entitled "The Making of ...

Re: PR: Burnside - The Complete Series [Network]

There was a making of.. book done for this series - it was solicited in the book trade catalogues but it never appeared - I guess the orders didn't justify publication.

It's a great series - enjoying it immensely so far - the subtitled advert breaks were a clever touch - I wonder who's idea that was?

The Veteran Magazine

Is there anyone on here who's a member of this association? , looks like a nicely produced magazine - a shame it appears to be available to members only, but pefectly understandable if it's mainly about the activities of the members. Anyway - if there are any members on the board here and you don't ...

Re: Missing Believed Wiped 20th Anniversary Special

"And as if by magic..." o.k. so the Doctor Who episode is now out there too so I guess my original argument is now moot but they could still show the restored version if the BBC were amenable.

Re: Missing Believed Wiped 20th Anniversary Special

As I recall, there wasn't really any outrage about those two Doctor Who episodes being kept under wraps - the reaction from Who fans who couldn't make the screening was generally 'Ah well, I'll see it eventually.' There's no such certainty for fans of other stuff. I think there would have been had ...

Re: Missing Believed Wiped 20th Anniversary Special

Doctor Who could be represented by the as yet unreleased The underwater Menace ep. 2 since the BBC are taking so long to do anything with it. Bah, at least you'll get it eventually, which is more than us Out Of The Trees fans can hope for! on the other hand of course It's not hard to see "out of th...

Re: Missing Believed Wiped 20th Anniversary Special

It was raiders at Bafta rather than MBW but that footage from Steptoe And Son: A Winter's Tale was wonderful to see and deserves a bigger audience; speaking of which; Doctor Who could be represented by the as yet unreleased The underwater Menace ep. 2 since the BBC are taking so long to do anything ...

Re: Sherlock Holmes

It would be nice if Network did a Sherlock Holmes anthology release - "Silver Blaze", "Doctor Watson and the Darkwater Hall Mystery", possibly; the frankly dreadful; "the strange case of the end of civilization as we know it" - any other ITV items they could chuck on there ?
