Re: Doctor Who Classic Series and DVDs

Is that amateur animation? I've been sold worse! Yes, it is...ITV cocked up and showed some of overgrown spoilt man-baby Ian Levine's animation instead. Fortunately, that one is rendered obsolete now. Gosh, who pi**ed on your cornflakes - I assume that you know the chap very well to be so insulting...

Re: Star Trek Discovery and Aspect Ratios

I guess we've been watching different shows....I think Discovery is great. Best Trek since mid-period DS9 to me. Same here. Discovery is excellent in all respects so far. I was disappointed to see quite a few people on the 'net moaning and kicking off over the lead being a black female. Perhaps the...

Re: The Missing Hancocks - returns

Did you hear the first series last year? I think they're all available on CD now. I am a little out of the loop with current TV and radio productions as I largely gave up on most of it based on my perception that British TV and radio is somewhat a medium in decline, although it perhaps a discussion...

I hadn't heard about this! Kevin Eldon usually makes me laugh as well. This would have likely flown under my radar if I hadn't noticed it here. Thanks!

Re: another identification thread........

That might actually be it. This forum is so useful for being populated by people who don't have dysfunctional memories like me!
I am going to see if I can get that on DVD off of an online retailer. If it is the wrong movie I may report back with a review of the film I ended up with :D

Thanks Sgt!

another identification thread........

Can anyone help? I watched this film on channel 4 back in probably the late 90s or early 2000s perhaps and I have completely forgotten what it is called no matter how hard I try to recall it's name. The film concerns a man who has decided to commit suicide, who ends up going on a cross country road ...

There's a respectable Norwegian series called 'Blindpassasjer' from the late 70s. Worth a look imo.

Re: Blake's 7 to return on Syfy Channel

Hm. I've been a big fan of Blake's 7 since I first saw it many years ago. I find syfy's output to be inoffensive enough for the most part, but I can't really see this working.
I will reserve judgement until I have seen it , but expectations are set to low for this one.

I was sad to hear this news too. I haven't read his science fiction work, but the the wasp factory and the crow road are excellent books that will endure for some years.

Re: Primeval New World Cancelled

Quite so, viewing figures are of course going to be king to any television company, along with DVD and overseas sales, which are less of a quick fix. I will have to simply agree to disagree with the general viewing public on this one :) Sci-fi is usually an expensive genre to make compared to soap o...

Re: Primeval New World Cancelled

Whilst I am not really disagreeing with anything you say there Mickey, I can't help but thinking that if new doctor who had been a completely new TV show, without a devoted existing following or history and without the large wave of hype of 'the return of doctor who' it rode in on', it would most li...

Opinion is simply that - a subjective view. But you stated it as an objective fact. But is is rubbish. I shan't bore you with the myriad reasons why I assert that. The poster I was actually responding to stated their opinion as an objective fact too. Why haven't you chastised them for such a seriou...

That wouldn't make them right though.
Opinion is simply that - a subjective view. I suspect some people may revise their opinion of the new era doctor who series with the passage of time.
Perhaps a discussion for another thread.

But somehow the 'revisioned' doctor who show got renewed when it was/is considerably duller! Funny old world.

Re: Primeval New World Cancelled

As far as I have heard it is cancelled and fairly unlikely to make a return unless another company is prepared to invest in it. If DVD sales or overseas sales are particularly high someone else might take it over, but Space for whom it was being made are apparently re-branding or somesuch and are le...

Walker deserves investigation for fans of UK horror in my opinion. His work is far from being without merit even if it will not appeal to everyone. For the curious, there was a very reasonably priced box set on Amazon.co.uk which contained Frightmare, The house of Whipcord, The flesh and blood show ...

The first would have been the Beano followed by 2000ad which I still dip into. Along the way in my first decade Marvel and DC made a big impact, and from a my teen years I still fondly recall deadline and similar publications.

Indeed there is. I have a copy. It is a low budget affair but cheerful enough. Someone will probably make subtitles for it before too long.
