Re: Teletext still alive !
Well, the Red Button 'text' service goes again soon,......time to bring back CEEFAX ! (and ORACLE) if it works fine on digital tv in Europe, and quite quick too....it can work here ! The infrastructure on Newcastle's High Level Bridge can still support horse-buses, but this is hardly a reason for b...

Re: My Wife Next Door (1970s BBC sitcom)
Remember Mr Waring very well, first met him back in the 60's when I started going to see NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN at TV Centre, it was myself, and two other school mates, we ended up going so many times, we did bcome 'friends' with Richard, and 'the Children' Roberta Tovey, whom I have always ha...

Re: TV on TV
There was an episode in MY FAMILY, not sure if it was transmitted, or they went and did another take, but The Harpers bought a nice new TV, Ben, was trying it out, and when he switched it on, you heard the theme from CITIZEN SMITH :-)
Recording stopped anyway, as everyone just fell about :-)

Like 'brigham' maybe not 'useful' as such, but very interesting, love checking locations, even more so if I have been there, or hope to go to the area:-) It is also fascinatiing to see how the places have changed over the years, so the more locations we can get the better as far as I am concerned :-)

Everyone at Home broadcasting
With the current lockdown, 90% of people seem to be brodcasting from their kitchen or shed ! As a non industry person, to get it all lined up so that they can talk see, and not all talk over each other, be on screen at the right time, to me, seems like a nightmare ! Is it very difficult to get right...

Re: Thoughts on Van Der Valk
Have just got round to watching first one, nice to hear 'Eye Level', even if you do have to almost strain to hear it, so subtle. It all seemed OK, still kept picturing Barry Foster though, but, it did not disappoint as much as I thought it would, rebboots tend to be dire these days, have not seen 2 ...

Don't forget to check True Entertainment too: Rumpole of the Bailey, The Agatha Christie Hour, The New Avengers. Of course :-) although Mr Rumpole has already had an outing on TPTV...that I am still watching :-) never liked it when I was younger, but now am of an age where I am finding I am like hi...

With a combination of Forces and TPTV. the evenings can almost be like watching TV back in the 70s :-) with the THAMES idents and shows, makes me imagine I am back in those times ....it's good !

Re: Dixon of Dock Green - surviving episodes from series 9-1
The fact that Acorn haven't sought to release the b/w ones says a lot about the perceived demand. The sales of DIXON apparently surprised even Acorn, which is why they released a further two volumes. The b/w episodes were suggested to them, (one of which is the first part of a two-partner, the seco...

The thing is, though, the things you all remember and love about Thames... in-vision continuity... the classic ident... had all been dumped by Thames long before they lost their franchise. Indeed it had, as did the rest, but that does not prevent us wishing and hoping ! :-) and I am sure at the tim...

Re: Thames TV
I’m sure Christopher Robbie would be up for it. Lets put the idea to TPTV ! :-) (even a one off 'TV' day) ! Nice idea, but what about the studio, they would have to build another shed in the garden! Well, they do the interviews with the stars of the films and tv they show, so could be a pre-record ...

Re: Thames TV
With TPTV getting stronger by the day, maybe they could, well maybe once a week, have a 'retro' night, they have so much Thames and Southern stuff now, and more, they could do an evening like we used to enjoy, only thing that may not work would be the in vision announcers ?

Re: Get Some In
Interesting about Lindsay possibly blocking it, there were only two episodes I can think of that were repeated in the 80's, the first episode during the "Best Of British" season in 82, and the Xmas episode, don't think that one was networked though. Brian Pettifer ( Leckie) popped up in an episode ...

Did anyone see the 1st episode of SPACE 1999 in Forces TV,, really good to see this on TV again, cant really go wrong with any Gerry Anderson stuff :-) HOWEVER..they cut two and half minutes out, I assume to make it fit, the bit they chose was the whole reason for the two series ! I would have thought so, they were played out to us when we went to Pinewood and Teddington, and I am sure a couple did appear on TV before the start of one of the series.Mark wrote:Quite a nice idea to do that, can't think of any other shows that did it though.

That's very interesting, you're right there, everyone did it, so no shame in that! That is true ! The "Sykes" ones are brilliant, especially the Jimmy Edwards ones, it's a wonder they got the episode completed with all that mucking about. Must get this, it was a great show over the years. Even in the 80's, after all the teams with the great Peter Glaze, and so many funny sketches and films, and of course the games, it still worked in the gunge era. There was one edition of the radio Documentary "Trumpton Riots" about the series, but...
