Re: Sapphire and Steel - ITV strike 1979

HTV had gone off the air quite early in the action. I suspect the definitive answer as to whether part 4 aired in ATVLand on 9th Aug is lost in time ?? TV listings show it - but it could have been pulled last minute. While some might say that it's a barmy thing to have done without additional info b...

Re: Sapphire and Steel - ITV strike 1979

Just to add to this - it looks like ATV were the host of this series and they didn't go off air until 10 Aug. Thames TV had gone off-air several days before. So it could be ATV still played the programme out to a few regions still on air. When the series restarted that re-run all the episodes in the...

Sapphire and Steel - ITV strike 1979

Does anyone know the answer to this one? The second assignment episodes started on 31 July 1979 - and the next episodes were scheduled for 2 Aug, 7 Aug, 9 Aug and 14 Aug. ITV was blacked-out by 10 Aug due the the strike. Several places list that the 9 Aug episode was screened - while KAL lists that ...

There are a few from that series "THE LONDON PALLADIUM SHOW" - which are listed as existing and are not on TP or the DVD set.

Re: A Family at War - The War Office Regrets - strike action

I saw CS was delayed - but was not schedule for the initial day. I wondered if a backup option was available on the first day.
But I suspected that 'in effect' the network playout cables were cut from the Granada end for any Granada production.

A Family at War - The War Office Regrets - strike action

Anybody know the answer to this one? Series 1 Episode 7 'The War Office Regrets' was originally scheduled for transmission at 9pm on 26 May 1970 and provided to the ITV network by Granada tv. But during the afternoon on 26 May the Granada technicians walked out and Granada TV went off the air for th...

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels

VirginMedia switched their feed for TPTV so no longer take it from satellite and the picture is far superior to the Sky channel. When they first began on DTT the picture quality from TPTV was very good which I assume was down to them broadcasting on an HD multiplex so even though they're not HD the ...

Re: BBC: Dracula (2020)

Haven't watch this yet but I see it is on Netflix US in 4K/HDR with 5.1 audio.

UK viewers had the choice of either 4K/HDR or 5.1 - but not both.

I'm surprised iPlayer is still unable to do 5.1.

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels

Jan & Tony are the first two episodes airing - Kal lists these as the first two episodes and were also the first two in TV Times at the time. Perhaps the episode numbering is different to the tx order? Here's a nice surprise (well to me anyway). Thames' Rooms start on TPtv on Thurs 11 July. Original...

Edinburgh Central Library have no digital versions of newspapers for that era available online or within. Only fiche.

Classic Coronation Street error

Anyone know what went wrong with the repeats on ITV3 this week? Wednesday should have been the episode from 23 Dec 1991 followed by the first of two episodes from 25 Dec 1991. What went out was the second episode from 25 Dec 1991 followed by the first episode from 25 Dec 1991 - yes the wrong order! ...

Every so often I have a quick look at what STV Player has to offer in the box sets. Taggart has been on there for a while with 110 episodes. But just noticed the 7 episodes of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" (1978) are also available, along with the 6 episodes of 'The Advocates' (1991-1992). Both ST...
