Re: "I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again - Again!"

....do we know if they are still on tour, or intend to be again (again)? I'd love to take one of my (now retired) BBC Transcription colleagues who went to a ton of the original recordings (lucky bugger) at the Playhouse and who also supplied the warm-up audio when they did the 3 hour programme on Ra...

Re: Harry Dean Stanton (1926-2017)

A fine actor with a great singing voice, I have him duetting on an early 90's album by Ry Cooder. I remember I read a story once from his good friend Jack Nicholson. Apparently Harry planned to record an album of old Mexican folk songs...when he asked Nicholson what he thought of the idea, the reply...

Re: Alan Simpson 1929-2017

About 15 years ago, on a Saturday night, I was in my local chinese restaurant in Sunbury-On-Thames and soon after we had sat down I was gobsmacked to see Alan walk in with a couple of friends and proceed to sit down a couple of tables away from us for their evening out. The woman I was with wasn't i...

searching for film rushes to an MGM film.

I know it's not television, but I couldn't think where else I could place this thread. I am trying to trace the rushes to the MGM-produced film 'Grand Prix' (1966). Would any of you guys have an idea on who I could contact for starters. I've heard in the past that MGM keep their archive inside a mou...

Re: the Jeff Hamer tape collection

............I have just listened to the Feb 1968 recording of 'Good Evening I'm Jonathan King'. It features the Paper Dolls singing 'Something Here In My Heart', a fairly lengthy discussion on the then current rock n roll revival with Carl Wayne, Freddie Fingers Lee and one other. Then there is 'I C...

literally 2 or 3 things, they're all listed here and that's it. Keith doesn't know who is in the Jonathan King recording, so I'll listen to that next week to try and identify it. Likewise the Jerry Lee Lewis 1964 recording.

OK lads, I have some news. The good news is that ALL the tapes played perfectly. Keith has now gone through all the tapes and is now compiling a final listing. This evening I've had a note from Keith, he has run through about a third of the tapes. lads, I hope it's OK to post this here. Jeff was a guy I worked with from my very first day at work, at the BBC Transcription Service at Kensington House in June 1976. He passed away last year and his family asked me to look after his quarter inch tape collection, some 400 reels. During November and...

Re: Ever Decreasing Circles

I first got into EDC with the 84 (?) Christmas Special, then taped a load of them in a more or less repeat of series 1, I think. As I was working in VT at TVC at the time I used to get tickets for the studio records, which was good fun. One thing I can remember is that early on in the recordings of ...

Re: Lime Grove studios

for a start, it was too old fashioned to be kept being used by the BBC (I know, I used to work there). When the decision was taken to move out, I would have thought that the ground itself was too valuable an asset to keep a hold of, worth much more to just sell it.

BBC footage;Motor Racing; the Race of Champions 1974?

Lads, I wonder if anyone can help me. I've been asked by a third party to help locate some footage, IF it exists, that is. It's motor racing footage, the Race Of Champions back in 1974. Now, I'm think the BBC MAY have covered this.............is there any way to interrogate (from outside) the BBC Li...
