Re: Teletext still alive !

The same story on the tennis section has now been up for more than EIGHT weeks, despite making a complaint to the BBC about it two weeks ago :-)

Re: My Wife Next Door (1970s BBC sitcom)

I don't know where the cottages are (or were), but I can't help noticing that the view from their doorways changes from fields to trees to even another cottage in one episode. I just did a rewatch of the series, and still think that the chemistry between the two stars is top notch. I would have love...

Re: Teletext still alive !

Although I'm delighted that they have reversed their decision to axe it, I just wish they would employ people who could properly check what is output. The number of stories that are simply a chopped out bit of a larger story, and thus make no sense on their own, the number of "see photo's" that appe...

Re: Ace of Wands - Sales to Other Countries

Any chance we can get back to the topic of Ace of Wands? I've been seeing new posts each day for a week, and none of them have anything to do with AOW.

Re: Audio of missing TV, or TV with audio missing

To answer the original post, if the episode of Crossroads you mention is the one that starts back at the Motel, immediately after the climax at the church, then it was me that returned it. I used to rush home from school to catch Crossroads, which was on at 4.20pm. Sometimes the bus was late and I o...

Re: TVseries not shows that never saw the light of day

In the 60s there was an adventure series starring Dinsdale Landen called Mickey Dunne. At the end of the series the continuity announcer announded it'd be backbut it never happened. I remember the series, because there was an episode about a Camera Obscura, which is where I first heard about them. A...

And don't forget the Hounsditch Warehouse - that always seemed very like Grace Brothers.

Re: Are You Being Served? 2016

I received an e-mail from the BBC Tickets unit inviting people to apply for tickets. It is apparently being recorded at Media City in Salford. I didn't make a note of the date (as it's way too far to go), but I read in one of the tabloids this morning that it is due to record on March 5th. The artic...

Re: Parkinson: The Highs and Lows

Like him or loathe him, Graham Norton did the impossible last week, in getting me to warm to Daniel Craig, managing to show that Craig actually has a sense of humour. The whole show was great, not least because there was no awkward jarring between Hollywood superstars and so-called British comedians...

Yes, I've pre-ordered too. Just in case that price was based on just 3 disks.

Re: "ITV 60"

I'm confused. Coronation Street started in 1960, so is 65 years old and has always been shown on ITV. Yet ITV itself is only celebrating 60 years?

Re: Your childhood comics.

My father bought me Film Fun, because he had read it as a lad. But it was taken over by Buster a couple of weeks later. There was a strip in Film Fun called "Space Family Robinson", which was probably my first taste of Sci-fi. Maxwell Hawke, Ghost Hunter was my favourite strip in Buster (how I wish ...

Re: Edward Heath night - BBC Parliament

Have I touched a nerve? I was merely commenting on the fact that no sooner has the BBC devoted a night to programmes about Ted Heath, than paedophilia allegations have emerged. Trust me, there were enough stories going around about Ted Heath at the time that, exactly like Jimmy Savile, it was pretty...

Re: 40% off every Network DVD for the next three weeks!

In the past, I've always bought a few Network DVDs in the sale - not the ones I really want, which I buy on release, but a few of the ones that might be interesting to watch. But the sad fact is that with Network releasing so few TV shows over the last couple of years, there aren't really any left t...

Re: Crossroads - 50 years on

I was told by someone at ITC that Noele's axing was more to do with the fact that her contract was with ATV, and Central when it took over wasn't prepared to pay her as much as she was used to. Whether that was actually true I have no idea.

Re: Crossroads - 50 years on

I used to rush home from school to watch Crossroads - I think it was on at 4.20pm in the London region. I remember going up to Manchester to university, in the period when London was six months behind, due to it having been taken off in London, when Thames Television took over, and buying a TV times...

Re: Digital British comics?

Although I do understand the copyright concerns, I found out through one of the comic forum about someone selling CDs of comics, and bought several disks straight away. I wasn't aware they were simply copying someone else's hard work in scanning the comics into digital format, but at the price charg...
