Cheers for that Mark. That's a very handy guide. I do hope that the next volume does include any remaining episodes from the early years.

Re: Rare Films

Quiet Wedding (1941) seems to have vanished without a trace. Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed that. It's a really well regarded movie. Halliwell lists it as one of the 1000 Greatest Movies Ever. But,I don't recall seeing it on television since the 1980s. Likewise,it doesn't appear to have ...

Re: TV clashes

I was really only affected once that I can remember when the World Cup Qualifier between Poland and England was on at the same time as Crossroads in 1973 (this being the 2-0 defeat in Poland and not the famous return match at Wembley on the night England failed to qualify). I did eventually find a ...

Re: PR: Quiet Weekend [Network]

Yes,I've long wondered about Quiet Wedding. It's held in very regard in some critical circles, but does not appear to have ever had a commercial release. Network are releasing the sequel and the remake( Happy is the Bride ),but no sign of the original. I seem to recall it being shown on Channel 4 in ...

This is one I've been hoping for, since the Network Tv release schedule began to pick ip again. I've so enjoyed the previous volumes and am hoping that these will continue. It would also be wonderful if some of the other series featured on the Sosp Box set might get series releases.

Re: ITV Daytime Drama Series 1972-82

Interesting that Thames drop out altogether after your 1976-7 season. That seems a bit unlikely, and yet I can't yet come up with anything you're missing in that regard. The Kaleidoscope ITV Drama Guide is helpful in this regard - A further series of 126 episodes [of Rooms was scheduled to go into ...

If only the Blindman's Buff clifffhanger was on there too. No-one else ever seems to remember it. As well as the oft-mentioned early appearances by Malcolm McDowell etc, one shouldn't forget that there were a few pretty respected actors among the regulars over the years. John Forgeham, Edward Clayt...

Yes,I agree Couples was a very interesting series. I'd love to see it get a release from Network- I was surprised that they didn't include an episode on their Soap Box DVD. I know it wasn't a "soap" strictly speaking, but then nor were all the shows featured on that volume. Couples is yet another exa...

I was intrigued by this page about a show I have never ever heard of before, Together (1980-81), a Southern soap. http://www.80sactual.com/2010/02/together-southern-television-1980-1981.html It claims here that series two was broadcast live. That must make it the last drama series ever to be broadc...

Re: PR: Plays for Britain - The Complete Series [Network]

It's astonishing to look back on the ground breaking original drama produced by Thames in 1976. In the Tuesday 9pm slot, 'Rock Follies' ran from 24th February to 30th March, followed immediately by 'Plays for Britain' from 6th April to 11th May. A few weeks later 'Bill Brand' was transmitted on Mon...

I would have been surprised had it been made by any company other than ATV. Their record is considerably worse than any other ITV company with lots of comedy and drama up to,and perhaps beyond, the late 70s missing. This is rather a myth that has grown up isn't it? And should be put to bed by now? Y...

The ITV box set was a wasted opportunity. There's very little to interest archive fans. The few episodes from the 60s and 70s have all been previously released and only one of the 80s episodes-from 1985-is new to DVD. The 90s and noughties episodes are mainly unique to this set, although some are fil...

Great to see this one on the schedule. Seem to recall it having afternoon repeats circa Summer 1977. I always love to see an entire series-or,in this case, all the existing series- being released rather than individual series sets, particularly when a show only has two or three series.
