Re: The All-Purpose Current Doctor Who (2005-) Thread

And at this time of year I can reflect, in an annoying manner, on how good The Daemons was compared to the modern pish. Bah.

Re: Sherlock Series 4

Saw a bit of it...er... the idea seemed a tad familiar...in a 1972ish sort of way...Mmm! Would that be as in an "I am The Master and you WILL obey" sort of a way, by any chance? A sea fort, a dominated governor, bending to the the prisoner's will... Lacking the misunderstood Warriors of the Deep wi...

Southcliffe - anyone care?

Good, bad, indifferent? I thought Shirley Henderson and Eddie Marsan should have been nuked for being far too wholesome, and the pub landlord was such an utterly obnoxious specimen that my only complaint was that he was allowed to survive the massacre at all. Liked the locations but coming from the ...

Re: Documentary - swingers / doggers - Thereoux-esque . 2000

Is this the one where it was revealed that there was some woman working the Doncaster woods area(!) selling it for a fiver? I don't remember that specifically although I think it was mainly about that part of the country, and that tranche of society, so it seems likely. A fiver eh...(rummages throu...

Re: Life on Mars music DVDs differences. Any lists?

Thanks for that - it doesn't look too severe if those lists are to be believed. I do just hate music being changed like that, although I obviously appreciate the reasons for it happening. I do remember that L.O.M. was getting repeated quite often on one of the satellite channels - I wonder if those ...

"And it's a fantastic strike...against the bottom of the bar and back into the field of play but Simon Coward slots away the rebound in total confidence to complete his hat trick". Or, in other words, you have it on the second go, I think. Hypersex would be the one. I'm pretty certain of that. Thank...

Life on Mars music DVDs differences. Any lists?

Hello - I know this one's been done to death really but I'd like to see a list of all, or as much as possible, of the Life on Mars music from the original screenings and then a list of the DVD music next to it, just to get a good idea of exactly how much was changed. I've found various contributions...

Documentary - swingers / doggers - Thereoux-esque . 2000-ish

Hello again - this one was about sex clubs, dogging in woods next to major roads, that sort of thing. The narrator / investigator had that Louis Theroux naive thing about him but it was not L.T. There was something about one of the main protagonists offering money to his niece or step-daughter or si...

Ha! Now I'm embarrassed! You seem to have identified two out of two in five minutes straight. Either your powers of research are remarkable or my efforts are remarkably lame. Now that sounds like a distinct possibility - I'll put it no stronger at the moment. I know it had some very specific peculiarity but I just cannot remember what it was. But I'd say that the item you describe is most certainly worthy of further research. Thanks very much indeed.

Program about. Mr Theremin

Hello there. So...it was in the early nineties, when the "ring of steel" against the IRA was round the City of London. (It's sort of relevant). There was an interesting documentary about the inventor of the eponymous weird electronic instrument which is...the Theremin. I recorded it on a VHS tape. T...

Periodic Table. Channel 4. Circa 1990.

Hello there, the program I'm attempting to identify was a documentary with an interesting angle, about the periodic table. I can't remember more than that! It was probably an hour or ninety minutes, Channel 4 - I think. The date I am also not too clear on, but sometime in the early nineties feels ab...

"Big Deal" series two and series three. Come ON. It's just got to be worth it. Issa classic, don't you know. Cheerio. Do agree with that, I really hope so too, but it seems ... unlikely ... Still, let us hope. It still seems to have its fans around the place. Is it because it's a BBC production tha...

Re: Doctor Who Classic Series and DVDs

I see The Tenth Planet is to be released with the 4th episode being animated by the same people who did The Reign Of Terror. Are we still in time to remind them to just keep the pace a little steady, leave out the choppiness and show a little understanding for their poor, bewildered elders. I'd sen...

Surely this has to be a golden opportunity for an entirely inappropriate reminder that "Big Deal", series two and three, have been shamefully abandoned and really should be given a release. Classic series, excellent for the Minder crowd - a little darker perhaps but a really good production. Classic...

Re: PR: Prospects: The Complete Series [Network]

Great stuff! I lived "Down on the Isle" just a year or two before this was produced and it will really bring back some memories of an area that was, in some corners, pretty much abandoned since the blitz. So weird going back now. Surely if this is worth resurrecting then there HAS to be hope for ser...

Re: It's Slade

How Does It Feel is surely the best song they ever did. Well, in the top five at any rate. "In for a Penny" is another rueful song - the best "remember/September" rhyme - as if they're almost apologising for what they'd been. Or, indeed, as if they're looking for a better rhyme for "Remember" than,...

Is there any footage in existence of their famous, career-resurrecting performance at Donington in 1980 (or whatever year it was)? Ahhh...time to be smug! The career- resurrecting performance was at Reading festival, in 1980. They then played at Donington in 1981. I was at both events and both were...
