Lesley Sands, familiar throughout 60s and 70s TV as bluff Northerner type, also wrote plays and TV episodes.

There's a reference to it in Gifford's British Film Catalogue. It doesn't say much more than you already have other than it was distributed by MGM. Get in touch with the BFI to see if they have a copy in their archive.

Re: Most expensive British TV drama series?

I seem to recall that Love for Lydia (1977) was touted as the most expensive UK drama at the time. Though I imagine Brideshead quickly overtook it.

Does this film feature Joe Loss and his Orchestra? I've been looking for that one since I saw it on afternoon TV as a kid. Going from Gifford's Entertainers in British Films , Joe Loss and His Orchestra were only in 3 proper films: Let's Make a Night of It (1937), Sports Serenade (1949) and The Moo...

My Wife Next Door

The BBFC have just classified this as a 12 for a 19th October release. 13 episodes, 2 discs. I have fond memories of this 70s sitcom so I'm glad it's finally coming out.

Lace was the ultimate in enjoyable schlock. At the classier end of the market there's Captains and the Kings, Richard Jordan in a tale of immigrants pulling themselves up in Victorian New York. And an honourable mention for Beulah Land which was a blatant Gone with the Wind rip-off with Lesley Ann W...

I watched this yesterday, and it's glorious. I hadn't seen Turkey Time before, and it's perhaps not a good as Cuckoo in the Nest, but they're both enjoyable. The prints are quite good too.

Wow! At long last, a song with a catchy tune and witty, comprehensible lyrics. I love it. Of course it won't win.
It sounds like something Lynsey de Paul stuck in a drawer, only to re-emerge at the clearance auction. We've sent worse, but it's nowhere near good enough to win.
