Re: The New Avengers - on ITV4
I've read about Ian Hendry's alcoholism but not Gareth Hunt. According to his IMDB entries he was still working in his last years on TV and I know he toured in a play around this time because I nearly went to see it. He was also seen in an episode of Doctors a month before he died.

Re: Mrs Merton and Malcolm
I'm uncomfortable by words such as 'retard'/ 'retarded' and 'simple'. Malcolm seems to have a learning disability and Arthur has clear signs of dementia. But yes, I thought it was a great series. It had decent ratings back then (and excellent ratings by today's standards). There were plans for a sec...

Re: Whizzer & Chips # 1 reprint
Great. I'd buy a Whizzer & Chips collection if it was anything like the DC/Marvel Showcase/Essentials line.

Re: Timeslip in colour??
Did Liz ever change her tartan skirt throughout the series?
Wonderful Timeslip. It was great to follow the series and read the strip in Look-In. I wonder if they'll ever remake it.

I can never get sizes in Paint, just the % of the original pic. I always use Piknic/Picasa.Lord Brett wrote:That's what I did, too.Paul Hayes wrote:Mine was downsized in Paint!

Re: Eggheads
Those insights are fascinating and I'm sure you are right. In some cases they really do just guess though, which is what I mean rather than the waffling, especially when they get the question wrong and blame their age. I do like Eggheads though and I'm not really complaining. It's nice to see older ...

Re: British TV: 50 years ago
Obviously, it The Avengers episodes I'm most interested in reading, but it's very useful to read it in context.
Thanks for the info. Will pass it on.

Re: The New Avengers - on ITV4
Not at all. I think they just altered some of the controls and taken away some of the detail as a consequence. I've not watched any of them, I'm just repeating what others have said.MrThunder wrote:They're not actually HD prints though, are they ?

Re: Eggheads
I think Dave is there because they needed someone that is not middle aged now that The Smug One has gone (under whatever circumstances). I agree that he needs to do better, but it's still early days and he just needs to gen up. I have to say if I had a £ for every time a Challenger said "It's gonna ...
