Re: Shows ruined by revival/comeback
Hawaii Five O - I actually like the remake and for me it is up there with the original which has many dud episodes. Lethal Weapon - again, I might be on my own here but I like the TV series remake just as much, if not more than the films. Callan - agree with the above that 'Wet Job' was a massive di...

Rings no bells with me unfortunately. Without wanting to go too off topic I only remember "Follow Me" with Francis Matthews at the helm.

Re: The weird world of dubbing
I once met Reece Dinsdale by accident - he is dubbed in the Minder episode "Willesden Suite", I asked him why. He told me the producers thought his voice didn't sound tough enough but was happy someone realised it - on initial playback he didn't think it was that noticeable. Dubbing (foreign languag...

Re: A Sharpe Intake of Breath - on Gold (UKTV)
The only reason I have been tuning in to this was to catch Diana Malin (who was in Minder) appearing in various extras roles. Overall, I thought ASIOB was pretty hit and miss affair in terms of the humour, more miss than hit. I wasn't sure on the breaking of the fourth wall and sadly laughs were few...

Does anyone else still own any of these old comics? If anyone does have any TOPS/TV TOPS still around I'd be happy to hear from them.

As much it is great to see this get an unedited release in the UK, dare I mention I have it twice already - both from down under and the whole series as an extra on the US Limited Edition DVD set of 'The Equalizer'. Thus, it's a pass, albeit nice to see it out.

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?
Obviously I would be disappointed if I paid for something that is sold as being an improvement in quality and it wasn't. Do I enjoy the production as technophobe as much as a technophile ? Yes. It is a matter of opinion and I can understand where you are coming from - I love watching BluRay as much ...

Re: SPACE 1999 YEAR 2 BLURAY - ON THE WAY?
Growing up in the VHS generation which I'm sure many have here - plot, story and action are usually way ahead of picture quality for me In my experience, people who are interested in old telly overwhelmingly want the best picture quality possible. Talking about the "VHS generation" is a bit irrelev...

Interesting points here. I agree you only pay what you are willing too. Growing up in the VHS generation which I'm sure many have here - plot, story and action are usually way ahead of picture quality for me. If any film or production is poor, a crisp high definition picture isn't going to save it, ...

I think Callan is top of my list, but good old Frank Marker is up there in second place - currently loving series 6, you can't help but like Frank Marker - such a weedy character with little or no sparkle but he seems the only normal one compared to some of the people he does jobs for! This is such ...

Definitely not a browser issue - I was on yesterday evening - it was painfully slow, but got there in the end - after slow choosing process, adding to basket took an age and credit card verification took almost 8 minutes to go through! Information technology - I love it.

It's certainly going to be one hell of Christmas prison panto this year. Oh no it isn't! Laugh? I almost cried. Dare I say "oh yes it is!" Admittedly nothing has been proven at the time I write this, but I find it quite strange how major personalities seem to consider themselves above the law and m...

Re: Schools programmes: why did they have to 'follow shortly
It's great reading these memories of watching TV in school, which of course is really teachers having 30 minutes off doing any work. Ok, there's "follow up" material but many teachers will often just sit back & relax while these programmes were on. I remember seeing the remake of 'Boy from Space' an...

I have also read that there is a missing episode (April Fools?) which was supposedly deemed too extreme to be included on a DVD set - I assume this is the case across all regions, is that right or has this episode seen the light of day?

I have not been keeping up with DVD releases of this series over the years. Can anyone tell me if the Australian releases of the series are preferred over the UK releases? I'd need to check, but I seem to remember some 89/90 Mission Impossible series being set in London or the English countryside with car number plate spacing all over the place. It's always great to see this, and even though I know they are not really there, somehow I still think they are there - love...

Agree 100% - the Umbrella sets are the only definitive Minder release. Dare I say it, as a Minder anorak completist, there are still one or two things that could have gone on them (but a certain tube has Daley alternatives) ... have to say so, Umbrella are light years ahead of any UK release. Person...
