Re: The Last Invasion 1960s Southern TV.
Just to add, the b/w Freewheelers material plus a few more more b/w Southern clips from Mike W were known about by Kal and others way back in the 1990s. What was discovered and logged about 4 years ago at Wessex was the complete set of Mike's film inserts and full programmes, which included these pl...

Re: The Last Invasion 1960s Southern TV.
The Last Invasion, b/w Freewheelers and the rest of this b/w Southern Mike Wormersley collection at Wessex was located there by me about 4 years ago, and the BFI and Kaleidoscope aquired most of it on dvd around that time. Some of it has been shown at Kaleidoscope events. I think a list was publishe...

Re: Oscar Puffin 1963-2013
Robin, you should have actually read what I said before attempting to correct me - I said still running on it's terrestrial channel. I am aware that CBBC is a new terrestial channel. When Blue Peter left it's original terrestial channel, that left Oscar as the longest still running on it's original ...

Oscar Puffin 1963-2013
Yesterday was the final broadcast of the longest-running childrens' programme on British tv - Puffin's pla(i)ce. Since ITV bought CTV a year ago, this was on the cards. Oscar made it to his 50th anniversary earlier this year, but was closed down without fuss yesterday. He is to be replaced by an ani...

Re: The Returned
Very well made, I thought. Very high quality. Also, very refreshing to see a drama where the production company dosen't have to begin by creating the usual collection of gay, ethnic minority and disabled characters and is then tasked with building the story around them - as happens with virtually al...

Re: ITV to Channel 4 transfers
Out of Town went to Channel 4, under the new name Old Country and now produced by an independent producer. Several Southern programmes were repeated on Channel 4, including Worzel Gummidge, Going Out, one or two Glyndebourne operas, and Sea War (which was a b/w Southern documentary series).

Re: Thames programme at a weekend
In the eighties I was fascinated by the idea of Thames programmes at the weekend and always looked out for it. It happened occasionally. LWT did repeat the major Thames documentary about Torvill & Dean at peak-time on a saturday night, complete with Thames front ident, which was pretty much the only...
