Re: ITV cutting films
Ironically , when OHMSS was released complete on video for the first time in 1995 the very next ITV screening edited the safe cracking scene out and ITV's first ever showing of the whole series on a weekly basis actually included an uncut Licence to Kill long before it was available uncut in the UK...

Re: ITV cutting films
When the Film "Dirty Harry" was shown on BBC1 many times there was a large scene that was always removed it was when the killer scorpio gets badly beat up by the black guy in some hide away was a very graphic and contained some bad language I never knew that scene existed until i saw stills in a fi...

Re: Columbo fan book
Mark Dawidziaks Columbo Phile remains the definitive book on the subject , at least for the original 70's episodes. I've been in contact with him recently about a sequel to cover the revival movies from 1989 onwards and he revealed that the only option given to him was an expanded reprint that didn'...

Re: Pointless speculation about Dr Who recoveries thread
Web of Fear is now available on VirginMedia in OnDemand. Thanks for mentioning that. I wouldn't have expected it to be on there before the dvd release . I've transferred them all to dvd today so I'm happy to use that for now and wait for the official disc to drop to £8. None look Vidfired so I assu...

Re: Radio Times.com says LOST Who available Wednesday
They actually started last weekend by showing The Aztecs for Hartnell,Tomb of The Cybermen for Troughton and yesterday used the HD master of Spearhead From Space to represent the Pertwee era. As you say, they have done their own 30 minute documentaries about each Doctor as well which have been inte...

Re: Radio Times.com says LOST Who available Wednesday
Macrovision was used on The War Game and one of the Rani stories as well IIRC. Carnival of Monsters too. Not that it made much difference apart from degrading the image for legal viewers. It may have stopped casual copying but it was easy to get round almost as soon as it first appeared in 1986. Su...

I don't think there's any problem with the boys being afraid of Imelda. She's a vindictive little snake, and you see that in what she does to Ziggy. Girl bullies are always a problem for boys to deal with anyway. You can't fight back like you can when boys are the bullies, I have to disagree. I lef...

Re: Survivors 35 years on: Opinions?
The DD set includes a 90 minute documentary that includes interviews with many of the cast and Pennant Roberts I shall have to watch them again - it's been too long The documentary, if you mean The Cult of Survivors, was actually about 30 minutes long. That was on BBC4 and covers the whole series. ...

Re: Survivors 35 years on: Opinions?
The zombie films he did in Italy may or may not have counted against him getting good work afterwards. It's difficult to say. I liked his Professionals episode (Need to Know) and his Hammer House of Horror episode (Witching Time). I don't think they aided his acting career but they certainly kept h...

Re: Survivors 35 years on: Opinions?
There was certainly rivalry between McCullough and Lill, whether it was as bad as animosity I'm not sure. It's a while since I've read the Telos book on Survivors so I can't recall if that book confirmed the animosity , but I met up a few times with Kevin Marshall who wrote the first book on Surviv...

Re: Survivors 35 years on: Opinions?
Most of my opinions written were by Mike's sarcastic commentary on the series. :) Ian McCulloch should have stayed on for another series. The series would have been better with him and his career wouldn't have degenerated. He was a good actor in this. The reason Greg didn't feature much in series 3...

Re: Survivors 35 years on: Opinions?
UK Gold surely ? Series 2 and 3 actress Lorna Lewis who played Pet died a few months back . Watched series 1 in 1975 but I don't think I ever saw the others until UK Gold aired them and I recorded them but found some of the edits annoying . I enjoyed the series last time I watched it - about 2 years...

Re: Britain of Film: This Sceptred Isle (Look At Life) BBC4
Couldn't find any other thread to mention it but both Network dvd's and the Britain On Film series claim the Look At Life films were never shown on tv but I just spotted in a 1977 TV Times for the Granada region that one from 1965 called "The Other Film World" was aired at 10am on a saturday morning...

Re: Grange Hill
The original theme was used for the first 10 series . Around 1979 a more naff arrangement of it was being used as the theme to Thames Give Us A Clue. A similarly naff version was used on GH series 11 and 12 and then the faster theme started with series 13 until the last one or two series where a ver...

Re: Grange Hill
I finally got round to transferring all my VHS recordings of the series to dvd a couple of years ago . I started recording it off air in 1990 thanks to BSB re-igniting my interest in the old episodes so thanks to the BSB and BBC2 repeats and BBC1 screenings I continued to record it and get a complet...

Re: ITV cutting films
I still have videos of the first two broadcasts of Live and Let Die from ITV after all these years, the first from 1980, the second from 82. I've watched them over and over, and can promise you there was nothing missing. Are you sure about that ? I purchased rental tapes of the Bond series in 1985 ...
