Re: Batman TV show getting released at last!
What's the content of these missing bits? Are they significant / long and what happened to them?

Re: Simply depressing
You should be safe with "Softly Softly" if you buy direct from Simply, and even if you buy from somebody else and get the filmised version just contact Simply's customer services and they'll swap it. It's true though that it's utterly infuriating, firstly that a company releasing archive television...

Re: Simply depressing
Thanks for telling us. I've held off buying the Softly Softly set until now as there were problems with filmised episodes at least twice. I'm not even sure where the land lies with that one now to feel safe buying it. The main trouble as I see it seems to be that when they are told about a fault, th...

Re: Crossroads - 50 years on
The sad thing is they missed a golden oppertunity with the revised series to do something to LIFT soaps out of the mire they have got bogged down in...! Yes 'Crossroads' LIFT soaps ! Since 'Brookside' ushered in the era of endless arguments, domestic strife, and sensationalist OTT plotlines, ALL so...

Re: ITV Daytime Drama Series 1972-82
The one exception are the three productions from Happy Ever After which were originally shown in 1969. They were in colour, though, and it may have been a lack of colour rather than specifically their age which did for a lot of late 1960s output - though there doesn't seem to have been a problem wi...

Re: ITV Daytime Drama Series 1972-82
Thanks for the useful list, Simon. Just interested but did Public Eye series 6 ever get a repeat? You're welcome - and not as far as I know. The odd thing is that I was sure I could remember watching Public Eye in the mid-to-late-70s in the same post-News at Ten slot which Thames used for repeats o...

Re: ITV Daytime Drama Series 1972-82
Thanks for the useful list, Simon. Just interested but did Public Eye series 6 ever get a repeat? I notice that series 5 and 7 had afternoon repeats (both of which I remember) so if series 6 was screened a second time, it must have been in the evening.

In a weekday afternoon slot, Danger Man was repeated late 1971 / early 1972 in the London area too. I don't know if these were seen in other regions as well.

Re: "Freewheelers" (clip) Query
Both Freewheelers series 7 and 8, along with HTV's The Georgian House were shown on the old satellite tv channel " The Children's Channel" in the 80s and 90s. If someone like Phil Morris could establish what happened to their tapes when they stopped broadcasting then perhaps these shows still exist...

Re: "Freewheelers" (clip) Query
I suppose this is one of those series where no one has specifically looked overseas for episodes, as with Doctor Who and others with big followings. As Ian said, very good yet frustrating that this missing footage can be seen in this way. Southern tv is one of the worst affected franchises for bad o...

Re: Two episodes of At Last The 1948 Show found!
and "It's A Square World", if the box set of surviving episodes, plus the Montreux compilation special, isn't released, there's no justice. It's A Square World has been almost completely forgotten despite it being an innovative series. The majority still exist (unusually for a BBC show of that time...

Re: TV on TV
If we were to include films, there's the obvious example of Quadrophenia , which has Jimmy's parents - supposedly in 1964 - watching the 1961 Avengers episode The Frighteners . The film was also made at a time when the episode was supposedly "lost." I'm intrigued. Where, as far back as 1979, was an...

Re: Network update anyone?
I haven't bought anything from Network in over a year. However there's been plenty of interest from the BFI, Dazzle, Pidax, Madman and Simply Media so who's complaining. I am however pissed off that the Whodunnit releases stopped. Particularly since all the ones I remember are from the last two ser...

The Loach, Leigh, Bennett, Rosenthal and Potter titles are on the box sets for those directors or writers, with the exception of 'Alice', which is an extra on the R1 edition of the Jonathan Miller 'Alice In Wonderland'. The McDougall plays are on the 'Peter McDougall collection', apart from 'Just Y...

I've almost got all the Network DVD titles I am interested in. Regretfully, because of their reduction in archive TV output this year, I've managed to mop up the few remaining stragglers on my Network wish list. It doesn't look like I'll be going to Network very much from the start of 2015 if Netwo...

Could we have a detail about what releases these plays are on too, please? That would be useful. What DVD set is the 1969 version of The Vortex on, for instance? I didn't know about that one.

I seem to think some of these more adult episodes were shown in London in a late slot for the first time sometime after the bulk of the series had aired too. I think Timelash and The Long Sleep were as I can recall them turning up after 11pm and thinking it would just be repeats of ones I had alread...

Re: Police 5
I've got one complete off-air from the mid '80s, taped on a timer recording for something else, as I used to greatly over-estimate my settings just in case. I wonder how many others are out there in the same way? Just in the one-in-a-million chance that this is the one I'm after, is it from Jan/Feb...
