Re: "Thirty Minutes Worth"
Having dug out my copies I find I actually have the first four episodes and the correct order is thus; THIRTY MINUTES WORTH - BBC Light Programme 1963 1. 23/09/1963 The Holiday (adapted from TV ep 2.2 11/05/1961) 2. 30/09/1963 The Request (adapted from TV ep 2.3 18/05/1961) 3. 07/10/1963 The Insuran...

Re: "Thirty Minutes Worth"
For completions' sake there was also a series of Thirty Minutes Worth on BBC Radio 2 in 1988, also scripted by Vince Powell like the 1963 run, which survives in full. I don't recall if these were further adaptations of 60s scripts or entirely new ones for the 80s as I haven't heard them in a while. ...

Re: "Thirty Minutes Worth"
The two episodes I have of the radio version are Episodes 3 & 4, The Holiday and The Request (07th & 14th October 1963), adapted from TV Here's Harry episodes of the same names from S2 (2.2 and 2.3 aired 11th and 18th May 1961). Those TV episodes survive which is both good news and something of a lo...

The pilot to In Loving Memory was made by Thames in 1969 with Christopher Beeny in the same role but Ivy was played by Marjorie Rhodes and Edward Chapman was Jeremiah. They didn't make a series and when Yorkshire picked it up in 1979 Thora Hird was Ivy and Freddie Jones was Jeremiah in the first ep...

Yes, I have off-airs of both of these but it's nice to see some Jack & Cis films on DVD, although not in the same films in this case.

Re: PR: It's That Man Again [Network]
Not a particularly funny film, much like the radio original it's very dated, but it has it's charm and great to see it get a DVD release, although I have a copy. Hopefully we'll get the other radio comedy spin-off films too such as Happidrome and the unreleased Gert & Daisy films etc.

Re: Why is taking over a role a career killer?
It's not always the case. Phil Silvers turned down A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Forum which went to Zero Mostel (who won a Tony award). Realising his mistake Silvers said yes to the 1972 revival which was also very successful and won him a Tony award. Then there are the many shows where ...

Excellent news, I have ropey off-airs of The Suit, Pity Poor Edie, and An Extra Bunch of Daffodils. Been waiting a long time to see the other three!
Paul Merton also remade The Suit and Don't Dilly Dally On The Way in his Galton & Simpson remake series.

Re: "Hugh And I" DVD
Yes, I fear another Rag Trade situation where we'll never get those last 3/4 episodes if they're missed off, although with that series wasn't it that they thought the episodes left off were of insufficient picture quality? Which isn't the case with Hugh & I, at least Escort Duty is perfectly fine.

I emailed Simply on Friday about the odd decision to only release the 20 surviving episodes of Series ! & 2, 8 of nine episodes of Series 1 and all 12 of Series 2) as there were only three other episodes of the 6 series left; (3.7 Escort Duty, 5.3 It Never Rains, & 6.6 Chinese Crackers), plus the on...

Great, I was worried the AF collection had stalled at Volume 2 after Jessie Matthews raced ahead to Volume 4. I have these to from VHS but an upgrade will be lovely.
I hope Network won't be leaving out the rarer earliest Aldwych films?

Re: It Ain't Half Un-PC Mum...
I love IAHHM, it's more end-of-the-pier farce than DA's slapstick and character stuff but there still a good bunch of characters in this with some subtler moments, the very last episode is lovely, as is the developing relationship between the SM and Parkin when SM Williams think he is the boys fathe...

Re: 'Almost cast' actors
David Jason went for Corporal Jones in Dad's Army but not sure how close he was to being cast. Lots of people aution for roles without coming that close to actually getting them. On radio Prunella Scales had almost been definitely decided on to replace Joy Nichols in Take It From Here when they audi...

Re: Recommendations for a good series?
I love I, Claudius but it can be a bit panto with it's larger than life performances and over-sensationalist whereas I thought The Caesars had a more natural tone and an equally interesting cast. I tend to go more for 60s b/w too. But both very fine series and there's not much in it either way, they...

Can't say about any of the above but if you enjoy the subject matter of I Claudius then you may also like The Caesars (1968) which I found better myself.
