Re: Kenny Everett's "Nice Time"

There's a complete episode on Youtube, in excellent quality. (Edited because I hadn't watched all through and thought it cut off at the end, but there's a bit of the 1964 TUC conference included as well!?)

Re: The All-Purpose Current Doctor Who (2005-) Thread

Did anyone really believe that Coleman wouldn't be back in the last episode? Accompanied, inevitably, by a load of time-paradox and continuity-bollocks.

Some people are better known than others, in death as in life. I've just had a look and by far the most-viewed ATA thread in the last few months is Cilla Black's, which doesn't surprise me at all. As regards Keith Michell, he did two pieces of work which are well-remembered by people of a certain ag...

I bought the ones I wanted as they came out! But there's a lot of good stuff there. Just to pick a few titles: Cape Forlorn, This Is My Street and Violent Moment.

I wonder why it hasn't been broadcast again or released on DVD? It's got enormous period interest and is as relevant today as it was in 1975, if not more so.

Johnny Go Home

Two long clips (totalling 20 minutes plus) from the famous 70s documentary on homeless runaways in London have turned up on Youtube. Among other bits there's a really depressing interview with a lad who'd been a rent boy at Playland, and police video of Billy Two-Tone McPhee's dead body being examin...

Re: The All-Purpose Current Doctor Who (2005-) Thread

If the BBC axed it now it would live on in other forms and almost certainly return to TV one day. It's like no other British TV show in that regard. It's unlike any other show, certainly any drama, in its capacity for being reworked. In the last ten years it's had four very different leading men an...

Re: The All-Purpose Current Doctor Who (2005-) Thread

I didn't blame Capadi much for last series. After all, he didn't write/produce it, and he wasn't the most tedious and irritating person on screen: that title being pranced away with by Jenna Coleman, an incompetent actress in an unbearable role. At least she'll be gone shortly - though not till the ...

For what it's worth I haven't watched the new series. I don't just hate what Moffat's done to the show, I despise it.

I think the rule is if it was made on film (like Space 1999) it can be upgraded to high definition, but not if it was made on videotape (like B7).

Just got hold of a copy of the 1961 tie-in novel by "William Drummond" (Arthur Calder-Marshall). Very curious - it's credited as being based on the original screenplay but is radically different to the film in plot and characters. It makes me wonder how much the script changed before reaching the sc...
