Re: Those David Jason "Sitcoms"

Granada did seem to be the region that always showed the ITC reruns first. The only other region I know for sure that didn't get UFO was STV Hello once again to thebeekeeper. Seeing that you were very quick to dismiss my comments about UFO, Hammer House of Horror and Randall and Hopkirk in my previ...

Re: Those David Jason "Sitcoms"

Here you are Simon, this should match your information and also fill in your blank bits. Beekeeper, hopefully this will satisfy you. Thriller was another series from ITC where LWT had the rights for some, and Thames for others. LWT 04/05/1985 The Beginning 11/05/1985 A Case of Lemmings 25/05/1985 Th...

Re: Those David Jason "Sitcoms"

While HHOH was repeated around the regions up to 1985 I understood it was packaged with UFO for the 86 onwards repeats and that regions weren't able to pick and choose individual series within those packages. It would be easy to mix things up as HHOH was only aired in 1980 so you would have expecte...

Re: The Michael Standing mystery!

Michael is alive and well, at least as of a few weeks ago. A good friend of mine who goes to lots of conventions and collects actors' autographs very recently showed me a photo of both he and Michael at one of those 'autographica' events. He's looking a wee bit older, but still very recognisable...a...

Re: ITV cutting films

I mentioned Live & Let Die, and I was absolutely certain the knife in the side in the opening scene had been snipped, as that made an impact on my 9-year-old mind in the cinema. Al Hi Al, I still have videos of the first two broadcasts of Live and Let Die from ITV after all these years, the first f...

Re: ITV cutting films

I do recall many of these Bond screenings others are talking about here too. These were always a big family event in the early days of their arrival on television, and we all knew what content should have been there when it wasn't Seriously? In the pre-home-video age, I would personally doubt that ...

Re: ITV cutting films

Surely one of the most extreme examples of ITV "interference" was with the notorious screening of Gerry Anderson's "Doppelganger" a.k.a. "Journey To The Far Side of The Sun". I don't think I will spoil anyone's enjoyment by saying this involves a journey to a "second Earth" on the other side of the...
