Re: PR: The Man Who Haunted Himself [BD+DVD] [Network]

Good to see Network doing the right thing and giving viewers the choice .
If only Hammer had done that with The Devil Rides Out .

Re: Royalties question: help!

Satellite and cable repeats should all be the agreed percentage based on the original fee . 20p sounds a bit low but who knows what the original fee was ? We have to bear in mind the number of times some shows get aired along with the small audiences for some channels. If broadcasters had to pay hig...

Re: PR: The Man Who Haunted Himself [BD+DVD] [Network]

Was it not 1.66:1 ?
Having been used to the widescreen dvd for over a decade that looked ok not really sure I want to switch to 4:3 now .
Maybe follow Hammer's move and include 2 different ratio versions

Re: Columbo Japanese Bluray Collection

About $335 plus shipping in US dollars. It's currently the cheapest I've ever seen it . US ebay sellers ask well over $600. When I was looking for a review before I purchased I found a forum with someone who had been given it as a present but wanted to sell it . They wanted £410 . A couple of month...

Re: Royalties question: help!

I assume that for DVd releases of archive tv they don't need the permission of the actors, or at least not for all of them? Who gets royalties off them? Just the leads? In the early days of dvd I believe the clearance issue was the same as it used to be for tv and this made it difficult for some sh...

Re: Royalties question: help!

As far as I am aware the deal that Equity agreed to in the late 90's is still the same . For the main 5 channels its all as it was long ago with big payments originally aimed at deterring channels from showing repeats although there has been a sliding scale for many years now with daytime repeats ( ...

Re: Royalties question: help!

Assuming he no longer has contact with his agent then Fremantle would be legally obliged to pay him for Minder . I'm surprised Equity were not interested as they are the ones responsible for negotiating what actors get for the repeats. If he feels the fees he is due are worth pursuing he may need to...

Re: Columbo Japanese Bluray Collection

Revival movies are all 16:9. Quick browse shows that the early ones really were not shot with widescreen in mind but they just about get away with it . Murder Smoke and Shadows comes with an isolated music and effects track - I think its the only modern one with that feature. But quite a few of the ...

Columbo Japanese Bluray Collection

Finally got this today from Amazon Japan having stumped up a £51 customs charge to DHL , but last weekend the online price dropped to £243 delivered so I finally went for it , having seen it hovering between £300 and £400+ ever since it came out. Prices via ebay sellers of all countries were and rem...

Re: Thames programme at a weekend

The majority of the country had first run Thames comedies during Thames own broadcast hours during the week specially the most popular ones. However there were sometimes exceptions . Needless to say Thames shows never aired over the weekend from London ITV. In the Anglia region we followed Thames re...

Re: The New Avengers - on ITV4

'Rights issues' allegedly. More likely the emphasis on guns , what with their involvement in several recent major news stories I would think. Rights issues should be a thing of the past . Power of veto for actors was removed in the late 90's for non mainstream broadcasts. Not sure what the situatio...

Re: The Invisible Man (1975) On Bluray

Finally we have the whole series in HD and of surprisingly good quality despite it all being on one disc. Are we sure these are not SD video files on a blu-ray disc? I thought I'd read somewhere that someone checked the resolution of the files contained therein and there were indeed SD. The fact th...

Re: The Invisible Man (1975) On Bluray

If you order from VEI via Amazon you have to use the message service to inform them which version you want. I'm still waiting for a second time to hear from Amazon Canada regarding their copies . At least the packaging can be used to tell the difference as the ratio is shown as 4:3 on the reissue wh...

The Invisible Man (1975) On Bluray

In case anyone has missed it I'd like to point out that VEI have finally got this title correct . Released on dvd with a glitch at 50 minutes on the pilot and then released on Bluray but cropped to widescreen , made worse by some instances of stretching rather than copping . They announced a 4:3 Blu...

Re: The New Avengers - on ITV4

Checked the first 2 and they were uncut . Pity they don't give the same degree of respect to their other filmed action shows of the 70's . The Sweeney and The Professionals both go out with much of the footage that made them infamous edited out , regardless of the time of day they get shown .Lazy IT...

Re: Legendary documentaries

I missed Johnny Go Home on it's initial broadcast but ITV repeated it a year after alongside an extra programme update "Whatever Happened to JGH" IIRC. The name Roger Gleaves remains burnt into my memory and it was creepy to hear the name again connected to further offences in the 90's and noughties .

Re: Programes about television

I watched "I'm Dreaming of a TV Xmas" on dvd last Xmas and was very surprised to see it's production date . I must have recorded it to dvd on a repeat. Easily repeated though with the Savile mentions edited out. When I saw the thread title I instantly thought of The Television Programme. Made by Wes...

Re: The Saint - Roger Moore series

I place the B&W era of The Saint near the top of the ITC pile . I watched them when Bravo aired them and have watched them about 3 times since I got the Umbrella dvd's when they first came out. All the ITV reruns do is show how inferior the colour episodes are in comparison to the B&W ones , which I...

Re: Timeslip in colour??

Perhaps the Timeslip site could start a fund for donations to pay for the work required? If dot recovery is not available then colourisation from scratch combined with Vidfire would mean we might get to see it all in colour once more. May as well colourise the 3 or 4 made in black and white too . No...
