There's quite a few references in seventies stuff to the rise of the "Ms." prefix and how older women were stating at the time "I am a Mrs. not a manuscript"

She wasn't in Temple's league. It's probably a blessing that the outbreak of World War II prevented Binkie's intended move to Hollywood - she would have been eaten for lunch by the Americans.

Considering that Miss Stuart's real name of Elizabeth Alison Fraser was perfectly serviceable, i wonder why the adults re-named her the very silly-sounding "Binkie" for the screen?
