Re: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe 1979

TVTimes lists the following voice actors: Sheila Hancock, Peter Hawkins, Arthur Lowe, Leo McKern, Leslie Phillips, Stephen Thorne, June Whitfield, Lisa Moss, Shelley Crowhurst, Stephen Garlick and Nicholas Barnes and I would guess at the last four being the children. The BFI's SIFT database lists th...

Re: The Sex Game

Don't remember it, and I don't have the relevant TVTimes to hand either, but... according to Television Today (23/05/1968): The Sex Game will be a series of romantic 60-minute plays, about the trials of lovers who live happily ever after. Writers for this series include Fay Weldon, Nigel Balchin, Ba...

Re: Armchair Theatre volume 4 (warning: contains McGoohan)

McGoohan squeezed in a trip to make a version of The Iron Harp in Canada on St. Patricks' day in 1959, in between his theatre runs in Danton's Death and then Brand. I'd quite forgotten about that one. I also think there was a suggestion that that episode of Rendezvous The Executioner , Missing beli...

Re: McGoohan

I've also wondered if McGoohan's abrasiveness created barriers to his having much to do with the BBC although Barry was till there until 1961. McGoohan's initial success in TV, as he finished with Rank, was with Granada too, rather than with the London operators, which may be of some significance p...

Re: McGoohan

He doesn't seem to have worked for the BBC again until 1963 True, though he doesn't really do very much "proper" telly at all after Brand. Having apparently set his sights on film - for the small or large screen - that's pretty much your lot for an age, in this country at least. Just three more pla...

There were at least a couple - a photo set with Bassett/Barratt sweet cigarettes and some larger cards - which were an odd mixture of photos and art work - from Anglo(?) bubblegum. I have a complete set of the former, but only a handful (I think) of the latter.

Re: Hine ATV DVD release

Thanks for the detail Simon, so quite a lot of new information on the survival/formats of this series turned up cf the detail in the last Drama Guide. Nothing like a commercial release to get the paperwork updated and/or the best copies hunted down I presume? It's fascinating that only 7 of the 13 ...

Just had a thought... is your original image CMYK? If so, did you convert it to RGB within Photoshop before saving to JPG?

Re: Avatar Size

Thanks! That seems to have done the trick. How have other people optimised theirs then? Mine's a .gif, and I used Fireworks to resize the original b/w image and output it in .gif format. It seemed to do a better job of handling the image edges against the transparent background than did Photoshop. ...

Re: Sweet Cigarette Cards

That sounds like a thing that should exist, also possibly a good idea for a website.

And no, that wasn't the sound of me volunteering.
