90! Good night Quincy. An underrated actor, actually.

Last of the 12 Angry Men.
I agreed with you from the first about the danger, but now I think you're utterly mistaken.

Sad news.

Aside form "Quincy", it's "The Odd Couple" that always springs to mind.

Along with "MASH", it's probably the best of American Sit-Coms, IMHO.

It was a good one, certainly. I knew of he and Tony Randall in those roles long before I got to see the Lemmon and Matthau version.

He kept working, and after some pretty major surgery, too. He turned up on an episode of "Diagnosis: Murder", playing Quincy in all but name, and it was nice to see him.

Loved Klugman, what a great name, face, manner, voice... a real pro. I love his turn in 12 Angry Men, he always made me laugh in The Odd Couple and Quincy Me (as I used to think it was called) was a great creation. I just to love how worked up he got when he was explaining "what must have happened."

RIP Jack.

PS Looking at him in later days is it just me that thinks he started looking very like Keith Barron?

Given my forum pseudonym, it'll be no suprise that I rate his turn as Juror #5 very highly, but he was one of those faces & voices that have been with me for as long as I've been watching the gogglebox. I loved The Odd Couple even as a teeny wean (although the humour must've gone sailing straight over my head for the most part), & if only the screenplays for Quincy M.E. had had tighter quality control down the dwindling years, it'd be as fondly recalled as Columbo. Ineffable turns in The Twilight Zone & Naked City, & a pleasure to watch in any chance-encountered dime-a-dozen feature, usually raising the script above that which it deserved. Genuinely sad to see him go.

It was very sad to read the news about his death on Christmas Eve. A great character actor and very friendly towards his fans. I wrote him a couple of times the last few years and always got friendly replies. He had hoped to return to his beloved stage in 2012 but alas that wasn't to be. He was 90 but still very active.
Klugman put a lot in the Quincy M.E. TV series, this being a Glen A. Larson series, and the themes the series covered were groundbreaking in the 70s. I believe that's for a large part to his credit. His most famous movies are already mentioned above, Days of Wine and Roses was another Great classic of his. Rest in Peace, Mr. Jack Klugman....

RIP Quincy......this came as a shock because I was convinced he'd died a few years ago.
