I see Lord Tramp is on just before this too - not that I recall anything about it, but the cast looks good (Alfie Bass, Leslie Dwyer and Jack Watling)

Re: Tell me Another
Your dates are, as I'm sure you know, for the ITV network (or most of the network). When Southern first showed it themselves, between 18.05.1976 and 13.07.1976, it appears to have run for nine consecutive weeks - and hence for two extra editions. I guess we'll soon see what's what.ian b wrote: series one

Re: Tell me Another
Thanks Simon - I had a suspicion that It might have started on Southern earlier than the network, but cursory glances couldn't find it in the "other regions" sections.
Renown's catalogue offers 44 editions, the (almost) networked editions tot up to 42 so it does look like a couple from the first series were only seen by Southern back in 1976.
Here's my listing for the third series, which can add one or two snippets...

Re: Tell me Another
That's interesting, so it looks as though the "networked" editions comprised the first seven - I did wonder whether they might either have cherry-picked the best seven, if there was such a thing, or - and this seemed unlikely, but you never know - whether the two gaps in the network tx were where the missing editions should have been.ian b wrote:Today's looks likely to one of them - "Disasters", with Askey, Cribbins, Dors, Jewel, Maynard, Ray, Windsor.ian b wrote:Renown's catalogue offers 44 editions, the (almost) networked editions tot up to 42 so it does look like a couple from the first series were only seen by Southern back in 1976.

Re: Tell me Another
Hmm, just watching this now. Interesting show but the technical quality is appalling. Looks like VT but pic is massively compressed and deinterlaced. Hope they haven't been digitally remastered like this.
... and a right looking ponce no one's ever heard of.
Re: Tell me Another
Quite possibly they've just been captured into the playout system at a very low quality level to save space.
Re: Tell me Another
Everything on Talking Pictures looks awful in varying degrees - it bizarre that Renown think they can flog their dvd catalogue of the back of such blurry, crushed, substandard transmissions.

Re: Tell me Another
Can anyone confirm whether these shows are now being shown in a loop or are they still broadcasting "new" editions? Its just a friend is recording them for me (I cant get Sky) and as he lives about 50 miles away I haven't been able to check. If they are in a loop, can anyone say how many editions were broadcast before reverting to loop?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Tell me Another
They looped the first seven episodes once, but according to the EPG further episodes are being shown from tomorrow.

This has been quite entertaining. Looking forward to the next batch.

Caught the one at lunchtime today, very enjoyable, but have to agree about the picture quality, not great.

Re: Tell me Another
Yes, the eighth episode, (the seventh that ITV networked), was on yesterday and the ninth and final episode, (not networked, with Askey, Cribbins, Jewel, Logan, Maynard, Pertwee and Windsor), was today's. It was comprised on miscellaneous stories, with no overall theme, (and with no drawn opening caption to illustrate the ((non)) topic either.).John Williams wrote:They looped the first seven episodes once, but according to the EPG further episodes are being shown from tomorrow.
Re: Tell me Another
Despite the promise of it being "S1, E10" it was back to "S1, E01" again today.

Re: Tell me Another
Really been enjoying this series, so I dropped TPTV a line to see if they were ever likely to stop looping series one and two, and move onto series three. A nice lady called Sarah came back to me almost immediately and said that series three is scheduled for November and December - good news, let's hope it's true!

The second series episode missing from previous runs turned up on Thursday.

Re: Tell me Another
Oh dear. Talking Pictures TV has been hauled over the coals by OFCOM (pages 7-11) for broadcasting an episode of 'Tell me another' in which Joan Turner recounted an anecdote from 1937 involving a racist term.

Re: Tell me Another
And your link goes on to say that the episode is being withdrawn from all future transmission by TPTV as a result.
Shame, another one lost to modern sensitivities. Glad I saw it before it was sent to Coventry!

Re: Tell me Another
Looking through this series - episode 41 is listed as starring Dave Lee Travis and was broadcast on 1 Aug 2016 and 15 Sept 2016.
Was he cut out?

Also, recent and current episodes seem to be compilation episodes - I guess edited by Talking Pictures.
