New Comedy titles on DVD

Post by Mark »

"Grace And Favour" ( at last!) from Eureka in May.

"Meet The Wife", from Simply in September.

Great to see more classic comedy being released.

Any chance of "Come Back Mrs Noah"..?..oh and "Doctor At The Top" please...just sayin'.

I'd like to see that; the clips I've seen were a good send up of life in space.

Yes, it is a bit on the hefty side, certainly.

Although I recall getting Acorn's "Butterflies" on DVD, years ago, and that cost an arm and a leg, actually at four volumes, that was quite a lot of appendages.!

It's a lovely silly series...and a right laugh.

"Luna" would be Network, though, I'm a huge fan of that series too, clever writing with the future speak.

I'd really love to see it released as well, It would be non-ok, not to release it, but gratitudes for mentioning it though.

Cheery-ok.!

Meet the Wife - soon younger Beatles fans will really be able to know what the line "Time for tea and Meet the Wife" on Sgt Pepper was referring to. I'm sure I remember it being on but not very much about it.

in some ways 'Meet The Wife' resembles both 'George and Mildred' and 'Keeping Up Appearances'

with Thora Hird as the wife wanting to appear a bit above their working class roots while Freddie Frinton is her 'not bothered about impressing folk' more working class husband who often brings her down to earth with a bump

I recall in one episode they go to a hotel where Thora is duly impressed with the 'his' and 'hers' separate towels

- then she's annoyed when Freddie comes out of the bathroom with 'hers' wrapped around him ...!

they have an ongoing banter about Freddie's dreams...of being with Elizabeth Taylor !

Have seen a couple of episodes of Meet the wife and would like to see more of Thora's battle axe performance.
