The restrictions about workplaces have made production a lot harder this year - more reliance on digital photo libraries, working from home etc. I suspect that if things had panned out differently and there had been full access to the picture library and Don, a bookazine might have appeared.

Oh - that would have been lovely wouldn't it? Such a shame that didn't happen - but, then again, it's not been a great year so I quite understand.

Meanwhile... very much enjoying the 50th anniversary of "The Goodies" with some rather lovely tribute items. I was very taken with Alexander Jones' recreation of some memorable location laughs from the show which you can enjoy here:

There's also a couple of new editions of the Goodies Podcast. #160 has three interviews. Sarah Le Fevre is quite fascinating as she recalls how she answered questions about the show on "Mastermind" and hearing her experiences of being a contestant on the show was very enjoyable (even moreso when I heard how to shared the series with her kids). Adrian Bishop-Laggett's name is one that I've typed out from so many BBC documents over the years and if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have the clean versions of so many of Bill's brilliant songs - so it was lovely to hear him speaking as well. And the cosplay of Julian Gabriel Clarke was innovative and impressive; I'm glad that they got to see Tim earlier this year.

#161 has some really lovely little tributes (notably one from Sally Wilton whose enthusiasm online for the show is more endearing and whose memories closely echo my own of growing up with the trio on BBC television) but the main item is a chat with Barnaby Eaton-Jones, the producer and storyliner of "The Big Ben Theory", the pilot for the new audio series of "The Goodies" which was made last year (and superbly blends the style of the TV show with the sound-only dynamics of "I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again"). It's so good hearing Barnaby's recollections of working with his comedy heroes and being reminded of how wonderful the full series scheduled for this anniversary year would have been.

There's also a very sweet and touching song from Stevie Rigsby which I think sums up what makes the show special.

You can find these here:

Anyway, I'm off to wallow in nostalgia with some Goodies goodness for the day. I still love it to bits and I think I always will. Hope that others are also spending a happy anniversary day in the company of Tim, Bill and Graeme.

All the best

Andrew

Yes, it's fair enough about the Bookazine, with the way things are at the moment.

It's a shame as it's easy to imagine how lovely it would have been, as with the "Dad's Army" and "Python" ones, when you think of all the photographs there must be ( and from other BBC shows as well) that we never get to see.

I had the anniversary in the calendar and will celebrate it tonight with an episode. Printed out the interview with Tim from Sci-Fi Bulletin; thank you. The Greenies was the last one I watched, so I'll go with the (twist in the tale!) 'Cecily'.
