New Doc series started tonight on Gold, fascinating to see their early attempts to crack the US market.
The first one famously didn't go down well, playing to silence from the Audience, but presumably, after talks with Hills and Green, the second one a week later fared better, with a more visual approach to the routine.
Second part looks like it concentrates on their three films.

Interesting to see the sketch with Ed Sullivan, though the first appearance was poor and they were lucky to be asked back.
The later performances were 100% better.

Thought part two was a bit harsh on the films, the comment on the back projection on "That Riviera Touch", they could hardly have expected them to do the stunts for real.
They did seem to be more confident on the US appearances later on, still more visual, earlier in their career they were more US influenced in their style with fast patter and using material such as the Abbott and Costello turn about lending Dollars.

A point not mentioned in the programme I think is that Hills and Green had previously written alongside Mel Brooks for Dave King's stint introducing Kraft Music Hall in the late 50s - early 60s.
