West Country Tales

Post by Don Satchley »

I have been watching episodes from this anothology series from the early 1980s on youtube. They are suspenseful and, whilst basic in filming style, have found them a delight. Keith Barron narrates one and Anita Harris is among the actors appearing. It seems the series was based on stories contributed by viewers of the BBC. A book was also released and I just managed to pick one up online for £2. The series is mentioned on here in one or two threads on wishlists. I would echo those sentiments. It would be great if a dvd was released. The poacher episode was my favourite. The Beast was good also but the "beast" itself was a bit laughable.

Without wishing to give any spoilers away, casting my mind back four decades, would that be the hoof print one?

That episode was my favourite at the time as well. I'll have to watch them again sometime to see if my views remain the same. Nice to know it's out there.
