Am I correct in saying that there is no home recorded audio of the lost episode either?

Didn't someone actually record the Australian showing of the original kitten Kong from 16mm B&W recording but recorded over the tape with the 72 version unaware of the originals significance? Also I saw on Facebook a while back that Phillip Morris said he had a 16mm copy of kitten kong but I assume it was the updated version because surely we would have heard something by now if it was the original version.

That too. A kid in 1982 wouldn't have made allowances for the possibility that it could be missing.
