PR: Indoor League - Volume Two [Network]

Cricketing legend Fred Trueman presents Indoor League – an antidote to the multi-million pound media sensation that modern-day sports have become. Join Freddie as he enjoys his pipe and a pint of bitter whilst hosting the high-octane gladiatorial combat that is pub games - darts, bar billiards, skittles, arm wrestling and shove ha'penny are all covered here. This fondly remembered series lasted for seventy-two shows over four years, and here's your chance to find out why!

A peak-time ratings success when initially transmitted in the Yorkshire ITV area, this second DVD volume comprises all thirteen editions from the second series. Featuring an early television appearance by snooker ace John Virgo, is destined to become cult viewing for armchair sports fans and students alike - or, indeed, anyone who gets a kick out of watching pub sports. After all, darts began its television life on Indoor League… so it has a lot to answer for!

Blimey! How long since volume one was released? I'd given up all hope of this. Terrific news!

I think you'll find that there's no evidence of performance-enhancing drug use in shove-ha'penny.How many other sports can say the same?

Did it heck!

Indoor League started in 1973? I don't think the first was long before, but World of Sport carried some of the 1972 News of the World Darts Championship in April of that year. IL might have had the first regular darts coverage on TV, but it certainly wasn't the first sports programme to carry it.

Westward Television's broadcasts in 1962 seem to come up most often as the first professional TV darts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_in_darts

Almost worth it for that alone....that and Bill Maynard...."Magic Our Maurice".!

It is a great nostalgic reminder of 70's lunchtimes.!

Game was 301 rather than 501. Don't think the Yorkshire board lasted a long time on the series though.
