Old railway tv programmes on iplayer
I have noticed lots of archive railway shows have been put on iplayer these last couple of days. Thought other members might be interested. Shows include:
Steam Days episodes 1-6
The Train Now Departing episodes 1-6 and a number of one-offs shows.

Brilliant heads up thank you! I couldn't see the fascination with railways as a boy. but as I get older that's all changing....

Glad I was able to help. I also had no interest in trains until relatively recently. Same with canals. Can't get enough of them now :)

If you do a Search for The Flower Of Gloster and follow up some of the links you'll find most of the sources for information about the UK canal network, its boats and their users.Don Satchley wrote:Glad I was able to help. Oh yeah - if you do a Google Search and click on Images, you should see a colour photograph of the FOG crew from the September 1967 TV Times promoting the first episode. For some reason, most of the male canallers who remember watching The Flower Of Gloster as teenagers usually confess to being smitten by Annette Robertson (first left on the photograph]...I just can't think why :).
Expect trouble if you know more than they do.

The BBC 4 doc was good, and nice to see The Signalman featured!
Re: Old railway tv programmes on iplayer
Bugger. There was me hoping that God's Wonderful Railway would have been among that collection... but they're always factual programmes, aren't they? Much cheaper to clear.

Quute right, I'd love to see that properly. As a child it held no interest for me, but now I'd love to watch it. I saw one episode a while back and it was charming. Same location as The Signalman too.
The BBC4 collection is lovely though.
