Quatermass had a sort of charm. But I'm not sure how they would square a British rocket programme with the modern world. Never mind transplanting it to Canada.

Does seem odd. British rockets normally go from Australia.

Wouldn't it be a period piece, if it's the Prof and his daughter?

(For a more realistic view of the British Space programme, see "Come Back Mrs Noah") we could definitely do the cleaning and catering.

Anyone with a genuine interest in the real life British rocket programme (of old) would do well to read A Vertical Empire by C N Hill.

The rocket in Quatermass Experiment was launched at "Tarooma base" Western Australia.

What an utterly brilliant programme. For me, this is near perfection in radio discussion - a group of people whom I very much like and admire discussion something which I'm still very, very fond of and doing it with such understanding, passion, humour and reverance. Just wonderful. Hope that others enjoy it as much as I did. Well done to all involved - just blissful!

All the best

Andrew

There seems to be two versions of this floating about. Free Thinking clocking in at 47:59 and Arts & Ideas running to 55:36. Not sure what the difference is exactly.

Looks like the latter does have extra chat, it can also be downloaded.

Been out of the loop, but luckily my Tivo "Kneale" wishlist caught it. Very enjoyable, although I did notice a few oddities, such as primarily framing Pit as being set in the London Underground, when they started to talk about the TV version. It was notable that they glossed over the Donlevy films, and I thought it was shame that Memoirs didn't get so much as a passing mention.

Ironic they used a photo from the first film on the iplayer page.

I liked "Memoirs" too, very well done.
