Coming soon on Freeview Channels
Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
Is Forces TV on Ch.97?
I did manage to catch a Two in Clover the Sid James/Victor Spinetti comedy on Forces TV...but Forces TV has gone again from my menu.
Quite a lot of channel number shuffling going on at the moment, CBS Justice (The Fugitive/Perry Mason etc ) is changing number next week
and Horror... Star Trek etc has moved to ch.68

I retuned last night to get SkyArts and noticed that TalkingPictures had moved which meant I had to edit the timer recordings. TPTV was 97 on my setup and moved to 99. 97 seemed to be Dave Ja Vu for me.

London Live Ch.8
Seem to have got hold of the Harry Towers Archive..Harry Alan Towers (for those not familiar) was a businessman that just happened to see the emerging television scene in the 50s as a new business opportunity, he knocked out lots of stuff, serials like The Gay Cavalier(now lost) etc and various B pictures (shot with television cameras for quick turn around) which if he could not sell to cinema he then sold to the new ITV as plays. After the 50s he seemed to have got bored and gone off to do something else.
Anyway London Live has been showing the Towers' series The Mantovani Show a wonderfully odd 50s music show curio with notable guests. Which does not seem to be listed anywhere in the usual places so perhaps it did better abroad? Apparently 39 episodes made.
TPTV start showing Upstairs Downstairs in early December

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
TPTV will probably be showing the B/W episodes of "UpDown", not shown in previous repeats on ITV4.

If only some of the other channels would get over their phobia of it!

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
It's very disappointing they've been deprived of London Weekend branding in favour of a modern style ITV one😠.
Rather unusual with re-branding programmes for a modern audience. it's usually the B&W ones that are left alone as they are usually avoided by most broadcasters.

LWT ceased to exist nearly 20 years ago. There's a whole generation of viewers that never knew it.

Pointless Celebrities
I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the people on Radio do tonight on BBC1.

London Live Ch8 This small odd, regional channel seems to have an uncanny knack of delivering gems that some other stations
would claim to be out of reach for them.
Tuesday night 6th Jan 7pm begins ITC hour with Sapphire and Steel and half hour Danger Man
Mornings continue with Skippy

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
When I checked a week or so ago - Skippy was in fact the very poor 1990s remake and not the original 1968 version.
The others look good though.

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
Kate McNeil (the little girl added in the Skippy remake to gender balance the little boy) was the crush of quite a few boys in 1992. Her jealous female classmates started calling her "Skip"...

Oh no! Didn't know it was a remake I keep forgetting to record it but will not bother now.ozsat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 2:23 pmWhen I checked a week or so ago - Skippy was in fact the very poor 1990s remake and not the original 1968 version.

If they show Danger Man in the right order (I think???) We should be seeing both Barbera Shelley and Portmerion in tonight's episode.
Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
I didn't know there had a been a remake either.
'C'mon skip!'
Sony Channel are showing "The New Avengers" again, in this 60th anniversary year, although they have managed to spell Patrick Macnee's name wrong in the trail.

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels
That's true of course, but seeing they showed the surviving colour re-recording of the first episode which had the London Weekend branding intact, it seems a bit odd the B&W episodes had the branding removed. It's clear this is how the episodes were supplied to TPTV, so beyond their control.paul.austin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 9:34 amLWT ceased to exist nearly 20 years ago.
