BBC Four Goes Slow

Post by Private Frazer »

The Ghan; Australia's Greatest Train Journey was just on showing the trip mainly from the drivers perspective. It seemed very like the first of these almost silent programmes I saw 'All Aboard: The Sleigh Ride' which turns out to be one of the 'BBC Four Goes Slow' series (The National Gallery, The Dawn Chorus, Handmade (Wood, Metal, Glass), All Aboard: The Canal Trip and All Aboard: The Country Bus. The Ghan... is a bit more of a tourist advert perhaps (its in with other transport programmes) and had added graphic info boards along the way and some time-lapse, but has a pretty similar relaxing effect most of the time. Maybe the name go-slow for this genre is not bad?

With the recent excellent New Zealand trip broadcast on BBC Four, 'All-Aboard' seems to be becoming the name!
