The Wright Way

Post by Gary C »

BBC1 tonight at 22.35. I'm rather looking forward to this. ****gosh, did I actually say that out loud?**** I'm looking forward to it in that I want o see if Elton has regained his thread and actually written a script with a few laughs in it, not that I'm expecting much.

I don't mind admitting that I'm looking forward to this too.

Apparently David Haig's catchpharse is 'Do not get me started!', which - I have to say - absolutely delights me.

I'm firmly in the anti-anti-Ben Elton club, and almost want to champion him out of spite. Although even I struggled with Blessed.

It seems to have been given a fair old bashing by some of the critics....quite rightly IMHO

Struggling with Blessed: This week, Brian Blessed struggles up Beacon Fell in Cumbria with Mick Hucknall out of Simply Red.

Frustrated with his lacklustre commissioning record for BBC1, Ben Elton lays a trap for Danny Cohen, and Cohen walks right into it.

It's the only explanation...

The transmission time says it all.

I'm doing the BBC a favour and not watching it.

Quite apart from anything else, I'm amazed that the tradition of giving sitcom characters surnames purely for the purpose of creating a weak pun in the title is still going.

Pop fact: the working title was Slings and Arrows.

I would imagine that the HSE isn't going to be pleased, either.

To be honest I expected what I got, very easy viewing with no complex clever hummer. If you were around 17 with zero life experience then yes you might have found some parts worth a laugh or two, however without this level of naïveté to give you some surprises then you can/could easily workout what was going to happen.

I will probably watch next week, however only because at that time of night there is little else to really watch just after the news
