I discovered last week that the New Zealand Sound and Vision Archive had a series of short BCNZ radio interviews done by well known NZ television and radio presenter Selwyn Toogood in Britain, and among them were both Clive Dunn and John Le Mesurier. The recording was not online, so I contacted the archivists and they have very kindly digitised it and put it online for us to hear.
There are several other people interviewed too including Rupert Davies talking about Maigret, and Frankie Howerd. I don't recognise the others, but well worth a listen to hear Clive and John. Clive's segment begins at 3.45 mins, and John's is the last one in the recording at 31.30 mins.
I hope this plays OK for you all.

Thanks for that, very interesting.
I take it, these are clips, do the full versions exist?

Yes they seem to be clips, and I don't know if the full interviews exist. They are not listed on the archive's online catalogue if they do. I suspect they may have been lost, sadly.

That's a shame, but lovely stuff though.

I am guessing the Maigret fans might enjoy the Rupert Davies interview too. I have never seen that show, myself.

It was very good. The cast list was outstanding, too.Dave Homewood wrote:I am guessing the Maigret fans might enjoy the Rupert Davies interview too. I have never seen that show, myself.
It seems none of us is likely to see it again, despite it being in the BBC archive.

No problem, I am very pleased others are enjoying them as much as I did.

The Davies version of "Maigret" was excellent, a mystery why it's not been released.
