Website That Listed Books Published based on TV Series

Post by cdnbob »

Hi all. I'm hoping one of you can help me out. There use to be a website that listed all the books published based on sci-fi, fantasy, cult and telefantasy series. It listed books for shows like The Changes, Champions, Tomorrow People, etc. Anyone recall the site?

I can't say I remember it, but there is a listing in timescreen issue 4 which can be seen in the timescreen section on the main page of this site, goes up to 1989.

No problem. Will definitely have a look at issue 4 of Timescreen - thanks for the heads up on that.

Managed to find the details... The site use to be run by Kieran Seymour and was the UK Sci-Fi TV Book Guide.

That's the one. It was taken offline as the site editor got feed up putting in all the effort to collate and host the site just for content to be poached by other sites and blogs. You can still access a lot of it in the internet archive/way back machine
Contents may settle after packing.

It was just Google actually.

I'd add all the interesting bits, Google would quote it on their Google books pages, and you can guess what happened to visitors to the book guide itself. By the time they were done it was getting just five to seven visitors a week. At which point I decided that I wasn't in the business of creating content for their site, especially when searching on Google for my own material actually brought up Google's own book pages as the top result.

The algorithm changes that wiped out so many other small sites around 2010/11 were also a factor.

A correction to my post above, the Timescreen section appears on the main page of the OLD MC site, ( there are even some book covers).
