Yes just mixing in those early days.
In that section about "Clive Of India", that complex scene with telecines, captions and action, just goes to show the amazing techniques they were experimenting with, at that early time.

Eustace Robb had laid the groundwork for Television production between 1932 and '35, including fades to the caption machine.
