Blake's 7 was recently re-released on DVD in the UK celebrating the show's 40th anniversary. While the show has been broadcast in both Canada and the USA - mind you it's been years since the show was last broadcast here - and it's been years since the VHS releases from Canadian company BFS were deleted.
I was wondering if anyone might have any ideas why the series has never been released on DVD/BluRay here? Could it be rights issues, or just not worth the cost of producing DVD/BluRay releases? I'm also curious if this might be why Britbox in Canada isn't broadcasting it (despite being on the UK version of the service)?
Blake's 7: Why No DVD Release In North America?
Re: Blake's 7: Why No DVD Release In North America?
Perhaps too obscure for a distributor to risk? don't know
I could not imagine it being broadcast in the USA, didn't they (in those days) frown upon an action series made on VTR ?
Did they show the Canadian Starlost show?

Re: Blake's 7: Why No DVD Release In North America?
From what I recall Blake’s 7 was primarily shown on various PBS stations in thE US much like Doctor Who. Unfortunately I don’t believe as many PBS affiliates showed it. As for Canada, Blake’s 7 was broadcast by YTV in the late 80s.
Starlost was broadcast in Canada on CTV, while it was syndicated on a few tv stations in the US.
In terms of a DVD release in North America I recently learned that one was planned in 2003 but it was delayed and then cancelled due to some sort of rights issue.
