Is Forces TV on Ch.97?

I did manage to catch a Two in Clover the Sid James/Victor Spinetti comedy on Forces TV...but Forces TV has gone again from my menu.

Quite a lot of channel number shuffling going on at the moment, CBS Justice (The Fugitive/Perry Mason etc ) is changing number next week
and Horror... Star Trek etc has moved to ch.68

I retuned last night to get SkyArts and noticed that TalkingPictures had moved which meant I had to edit the timer recordings. TPTV was 97 on my setup and moved to 99. 97 seemed to be Dave Ja Vu for me.

No Chan 96, 97 was a 3hr a day early hours of the morning reservation for an ITV channel, I believe was just a place holder.

In London TPTV is still on chan. 81 for me.

Seem to have got hold of the Harry Towers Archive..Harry Alan Towers (for those not familiar) was a businessman that just happened to see the emerging television scene in the 50s as a new business opportunity, he knocked out lots of stuff, serials like The Gay Cavalier(now lost) etc and various B pictures (shot with television cameras for quick turn around) which if he could not sell to cinema he then sold to the new ITV as plays. After the 50s he seemed to have got bored and gone off to do something else.

Anyway London Live has been showing the Towers' series The Mantovani Show a wonderfully odd 50s music show curio with notable guests. Which does not seem to be listed anywhere in the usual places so perhaps it did better abroad? Apparently 39 episodes made.

It's very disappointing they've been deprived of London Weekend branding in favour of a modern style ITV one😠.

Rather unusual with re-branding programmes for a modern audience. it's usually the B&W ones that are left alone as they are usually avoided by most broadcasters.

The others look good though.

Oh no! Didn't know it was a remake I keep forgetting to record it but will not bother now.

If they show Danger Man in the right order (I think???) We should be seeing both Barbera Shelley and Portmerion in tonight's episode.

Sony Channel are showing "The New Avengers" again, in this 60th anniversary year, although they have managed to spell Patrick Macnee's name wrong in the trail.

That's true of course, but seeing they showed the surviving colour re-recording of the first episode which had the London Weekend branding intact, it seems a bit odd the B&W episodes had the branding removed. It's clear this is how the episodes were supplied to TPTV, so beyond their control.

TPTV have been in the barns and cupboards again.

It looks like they have recovered a complete Rediffusion kids series The Barnstormers
starring Dennis Waterman.

Amazing news, and Rediffusion again, there must be a stack of em' somewhere, can't wait to see them.

TPTV obviously have a very good relationship with many film collectors, fingers crossed for some "Orlando" and "Sexton Blake" next.

I think the BFI have been sitting on an Orlando adventure for about 50 years?
As said before, an absolute tragedy about Sexton Blake considering all the work and sacrifices that went into it to entertain kids,
Lawrence Payne certainly deserved a pension of repeat fees.

Frustratingly the last two episodes of it, "Orlando" : "Dangerous Waters", are missing though!

True about "Sexton Blake", it was such a good series, hopefully there may still be some out there.

It would be interesting to know the origin of all these Rediffusion prints that have survived in private hands.

Usually ITV4's episodes of The Protectors are broadcast, at least once, without sign language in the corner. I've been wanting them to have with the original ad-break - which you don't get on the DVD's. These late Series 1 ones, on just now, are all labelled SL. Can I assume that the TV's TV guide is accurate and they are all signed? It's a bit disappointing! but I suppose they'll come round again.

The Professionals negatives were found for the Blu-ray release by Network and gave excellent results. I don't know about the New Avengers but the prints used for the DVDs were not the best. The one shown at the Avengers Weekend at the NFT a good few years ago was much better than those, it made the colour prints shown of the original series look a step down too.

Just a thought but aren't the sign language ones broadcast very late at night?
