Maurice Roëves (1937-2020)

Post by Billy Smart »

"One of Scotland’s finest actors who played tough guys, steely villains and stalwart military figures." Obituary by Toby Hadoke - https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radi ... s-obituary

I interviewed Maurice Roëves on a couple of occasions, talking mainly about being directed by Douglas Camfield and the craft of television acting. I've posted up the transcript of a 2011 conversation - https://forgottentelevisiondrama.wordpr ... 1937-2020/

Just read the interview, fascinating and informative, and explains why he was such a good Actor, giving such memorable performances.

Another Actor who just happens to have done a lot of the TV I have always enjoyed, he popped up in "Rumpole Of The Bailey", a week or so ago.

I loved his character in Danger UXB...Sgt James. He had some lovely dialogue in it.

Yes, he made that part into a really decent character, one of the best things Euston did.
