"The Goodies" was another that was screened many times of course, and two otherwise missing episodes of "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" exist thanks to Aus screenings.
It's almost easier/quicker to name the British shows of the 70s (comedy and drama) that DIDN'T air in Australia than those that did!

Re: Overseas (Archives and Schedules)

Australia didn't seem to be too far behind either, I was regularly getting tapes of Off-Air material back at the start of the 80's. Yes, the main Australian commercial networks of that period (7, 9 and 10) also screened many UK shows, although they also took a lot more US programmes than New Zealan...

Re: Overseas (Archives and Schedules)

Looking generally at mid-1970s, apart from news and a small selection of other programming including some output for children, NZ TV of the time filled their schedules with British programming! Even seemed to outnumber US originated shows. Outside of Britain itself, the local airwaves must have scre...

It seems to continue in Australia as Home and Away has a Christmas break and that is in summer there.
Interesting. The old 'Emmerdale Farm' pattern of production lives on ... in Australia

Re: Local News Takes a Holiday

Fascinating detail, the general idea of taking a 'summer break' in programming seems like a concept from a different age ... happened regularly decades ago with Yorkshire's 'Emmerdale Farm'

Other factors in play may have included (a) a chance for new horizons/a change after a decade at the BBC (they guested in a couple of 'Look Familiar' specials in primetime and later did a couple of look-back/nostalgia specials in 'Two of a Kind' and 'Eric and Ernie's Variety Days' hosted by Alan Wic...

Issues with PMs (Private Messges)

Just a follow on from an issue mentioned in the 'A Killer in Every Corner' book thread. When I've sent PMs myself recently, they've sat (sometimes for a number of days or even longer) in the 'Outbox' without moving to 'Sent' (and presumably therefore not received until they've finally flowed through...

Have sent you a PM. Just letting you know as sometimes I know they are easy to miss on here! Hi Simon. Just checked, it's not come through (possibly sitting in your 'outbox' rather than 'sent'). I know from experience they can sit there for some time before arriving at their destination. If it's ur...
