Re: On the buses blu ray in future?

Would love to see the On The Buses films in a good format. I also thought the films were much better than the series which suffered as it went on far too long. Steptoe & Son I found the films were not so good as the series - but would still by bluray. I think the films deserve a bluray release, wou...

Re: Talking Pictures - more 'No Hiding Place' episodes

"Contents Noted" was another good episode, with a simple but entertaining plot. Lots of filmed scenes ( a good few for location finding), and a couple of Library tracks used throughout, familiar from shows like "Freewheelers". TPTV muted a word twice, 'Bitch', I think it was, quality of print wasn't...

Re: Adventures of Robin Hood TPTV

Yes, it's a short series, but I'm sure the audience for the channel won't think anything of it. With Forces TV, also a good channel for Archive shows, they do show "Please Sir!", and although they do show the first B/W series, it's always shown very late or even in the middle of the night. The fact ...

Re: Holby City Cancellation

Shaky-Cam direction, became very annoying very quickly, so that wouldn't have helped. Back in the 90's, I remember Lisa Bowerman.( at a "Who" con) talking about "Casualty", she played Sandra Mute in the first two series. I think I recall it correctly, but she was saying the ratings were not great, a...

Re: Adventures of Robin Hood TPTV

I think "Robin Hood" has been quite popular, they had actually got into the first series and then stopped and started it again from the first episode, supposedly because some had missed it's debut. I'm sure "The Main Chance" will do well, it's an excellent series, and it's not like the channels view...

Remember "Casualty" from the start, watched a couple of series or so, but then lost interest.

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels

Great though it is to get these episodes, the random scheduling is a bit annoying. Hear, hear! I don't have TV on much, and don't always remember to check the TPTV schedules so have annoyingly missed a couple of episodes of series recently. I just hope that they come round again and I spot them in ...

Just spent some time working out the Tube stations seen at the start of Told By a Dead Man (Barons Court and Arsenal). Still holding out for the later episode where Mike McStay and two uniformed coppers chase a villain into Embankment station... As soon as I saw the stations, I thought you would ge...

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels

I would say the print had a fair bit of wear and that the sound showed signs of a great deal of noise reduction, leading to some background "twittering" at the very start. I'm sure it made Lockhart's cold sound worse too. Probably been watched a fair few times. The next one on 14th June, 4.55pm, "C...

I reckon Eric Lander was off with a bad cold LOL.
I think he got his own spin-off show when he left? but don't think it lasted long.
"Echo Four-Two", sadly ran into a few problems, unfortunate for Eric Lander, a good Actor.

Two big Hospital dramas was pushing it a bit, although they were obviously both popular.

Must make "Holby City" the longest running spin-off, I think.

Re: Coming soon on Freeview Channels

Once again an enjoyable "NHP", a script from Roger Marshall, "Told By A Dead Man" from 1961, I liked the basic story, kept you watching as usual, although a bit of a quick ending! No Eric Lander and with a husky voiced Raymond Francis, getting over a cold, direction was excellent from Richard Gilber...

I had completely forgotten Norman Vaughan. Roses grow on him! Roses grow on him! Is that thought to be "Swinging!" or "Dodgy". 'Oooh!'....Yes he was good entertainer, and ended up more than comfortably off, co-devising "Bullseye". Probably the best of the hosts after Bob Monkhouse, although Pete Mu...

Ah right, as you say, just to make it a tad harder to cancel something. Something I had forgotten about, would be nice to see again though.

I don't think I have got to the stage of seeing 90's TV as 'Nostalgic' yet, it took some time before I saw the 80's in that way!

Interesting viewpoint all the same.

Re: The Protectors (ITC)

Just caught the episode "Sugar And Spice" on ITV 4, with the threesome looking after little Debbie Russ, from "Here Come The Double Deckers".

I would rate that one quite high, worked well enough in the 30 min format, although how better would it be as an hour show.

Going to switch the radar on now for BBC4 as that looked a nice line up I missed. TPTV say there is another new NHP coming after this week's premier episode. Some nice shots of John Bluthal and Joe Lynch, doing a skit with Bob, obviously based on "Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width".

Another appearance of them with Norman Vaughan and possibly doing the same routine!
